Three-Way Stop Helps Traffic Flow

Editor:
I read with interest the cost of replacing the traffic light at the intersection at the First Baptist Church.  Since the three-way stop has been initiated I have observed the traffic moving more efficiently and much faster.  On some of the other intersections, traffic is stopped with four to six vehicles on both sides of the main street waiting for the light to change while there is no traffic approaching from the side street.
National statistics indicate that in small communities with low volume of traffic, all-way stops are more efficient that traffic lights in moving traffic.
The City should consider replacing all the lights with four-way stops thereby saving the taxpayers a bundle of money. The four-way stops now in place are working fine.
