Slue Foot Louy Takes The Stage Next Weekend In Coffeeville

 The Coffeeville Chamber of Commerce will present the second concert of the Chamber Concert Series on Saturday, September 6, from 5-9 p.m. at the bandstand on Front Street. During the first hour, D.J. Dewitt Moody will be playing oldies as the crowd gathers.  At six o’clock, Slue Foot Louy, the featured band, will bring live music for the listeners to enjoy. Refreshments will again be available for purchase at the concert.
  Sponsors for the event are the Coffeeville Chamber of Commerce, The Drug Store, Mechanics Bank, Delta Distributing Co., Coffeeville Insurance Agency, Coffee-ville Courier, Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association, and Renasant Bank.  Additional sponsorships are available for the second concert and the third concert, to be held October 25, at the Holiday House event. Masonic Chapters Will Meet On The Same Date Each Month

    McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM, J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM, and St. Cyr Commandery No. 6, will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, August 28, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby notified that all three of these York  Rite Bodies will now meet on the same date every month. The meeting time will be 7 p.m. until further notice. Members are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Flowers Family Schedule Reunion At Enid Lake

    The Flowers reunion will be held Sunday, August 31 (Labor Day weekend), beginning at 11 a.m. It will be held in the River View Area, below the levee of Enid Dam. All family and friends are invited to attend. For more information call T. J. Flowers at (662) 623-8695.

Art Crawl Is Next Month

The Water Valley Art Council’s 6th Annual Art Crawl is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 5:30 – 9 pm. Artists, musicians, creative folks of every sort, this is our opportunity to shine a spotlight on you.

Pine Valley School Reunion Is Third Saturday In September

    The Pine Valley School Community Center reunion will be held (as always) on the third Saturday of September, which will be September 20 this year. The reunion will be held in the Pine Valley Schoolhouse in the Pine Valley Community and will start at 10 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish of their favorite food to be served at lunch, which will be served at noon. Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendar for this event. More details concerning the reunion will be provided at a later date.

Art Council’s Next Monthly Meeting Is Tuesday

The Water Valley Arts Council will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Water Valley Main Street office, 207 North Main Street.
Topics for discussion: The Water Valley Art Crawl (Sept. 20), Decorate Your Bike or anything on Wheels Christmas Parade and more. Billy Adams Band Will Perform At VFW Dance

    The regular VFW Saturday night dance on August 30, will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight, in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Providing the music for the dance will be The Billy Adams Band. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, or just listening to the music.

2013-14 Valley Views Are Available

    The 2013-14 Water Valley High School Valley Views annuals have arrived. If you prepaid for an annual in the spring, you may see Mrs. King at the high school to pick up your annual. If you did not purchase one, and wish to do so, there are a few extras for $55.

‘I’m Soo Water Valley Group’ Sponsors Block Party

    The “I’m Soo Water Valley Group” will sponsor their first Community Block Party Saturday, September 20, at the Baker Street Park, beginning at 12 p.m. Come out and bring the family and friends to join us for a fun-filled day of music, games, food, and fun. All kids, three and under, can participate free. For all others a $5 admission fee is required to participate in the activities. Also, Tee shirts are available for purchase for the amount of $10, additional sizes is $1.
    Money for t-shirts must be paid no later than September 2. The purpose of the “I’m Soo Water Valley Community Group” is to help advance the betterment of the youth in the Water Valley Community, through social skills, career, and educational advancement. Water Valley Offices And Departments Close For Labor Day

    All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, to observe Labor Day. Monday’s garbage route will run as usual. The commercial garbage route will also run Monday.

Tummy Safe Certification Exam Offered For Daycare Workers

The Tummy Safe Certification Exam for daycare workers will be offered on Thursday, September 11 at the Yalobusha County Extension Service in Coffeeville. The exam starts at 2:30 p.m. and the cost to take it is $100, which can be paid by money order or cashier’s check.  
Prior to taking the exam, you will need to work through the Tummy Safe CD.  The cost of the CD is $25. Space is limited you must register and pay your fees by September 7 to be considered registered for the class.  Registration fees are non-refundable.  If you have any questions or would like to find out how to purchase your copy of the Tummy Safe CD, contact Pamela Redwine at (662) 675-2730.
