Pine Valley School Reunion Is Third Saturday In September

    The Pine Valley School Community Center reunion will be held (as always) on the third Saturday in September, which will be September 20, this year. The reunion will be held in the Pine Valley Schoolhouse in the Pine Valley Community and will start  at 10 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish of their favorite food to be served at  noon. Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendar for this event. “Everyone is welcome! No one has to have been a sudent, or teacher, or ever have lived in the community. Come out and visit and see the changes and repairs made in the school building to help take it back to the time it was built in the 1920’s and to preserve it. Bring pictures, or any mementos, to show,” stated Joni Camp, publicity chair. The school is located on Hwy. 32 East and CR 212.

‘I’m Soo Water Valley Group’ Sponsors Block Party

    The “I’m Soo Water Valley Group” will sponsor their first Community Block Party Saturday, September 20, at the Baker Street Park, beginning at 12 p.m. Come out and bring the family and friends to join us for a fun-filled day of music, games, food, and fun. All kids, three and under, can participate free. For all others a $5 admission fee is required to participate in the activities. Also, Tee shirts are available for purchase for the amount of $10, additional sizes is $1.
    Money for t-shirts must be paid no later than September 2. The purpose of the “I’m Soo Water Valley Community Group” is to help advance the betterment of the youth in the Water Valley Community, through social skills, career, and educational advancement. Program At Ford’s Well Focuses On Native Plants

    Everyone is invited to join Oakland Public Library Friends at Ford’s Well for a program Wednesday, September 17, at noon. The program, by Emily Jo Wiggins, will be: Visitor Education for the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery, with a Focus on Native Plants in our Habitat Area. Those attending are asked to bring your favorite light pot luck dish for a picnic. Drinks will be provided by the Tippits.

Monthly Lion’s Pancake Breakfast Is Saturday

    The monthly Lion’s Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, September 6, from 6:30-9 a.m., in the Depot Building on Main Street. The menu will be all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Plates are $5 each. Lions cheese will also be available at this time.
    “Come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast, some great fellowship, and take home some cheese,” invites Lion Ernie Aune. Proceeds from this event are used to fund the many charitable projects of the Lions Club.
 

Tummy Safe Certification Exam Offered For Daycare Workers

The Tummy Safe Certification Exam for daycare workers will be offered on Thursday, September 11 at the Yalobusha County Extension Service in Coffeeville. The exam starts at 2:30 p.m. and the cost to take it is $100, which can be paid by money order or cashier’s check.  
Prior to taking the exam, you will need to work through the Tummy Safe CD. The cost of the CD is $25. Space is limited, you must register and pay your fees by September 7 to be considered registered for the class. Registration fees are non-refundable. Banner Lodge Offers Fish And All The Trimmings At Annual Event

    The annual fish fry will be held at Banner Lodge #329, Banner, Saturday, September 6, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Served will be catfish with all the trimmings, a drink and dessert for $10 per plate. Chicken strips will be available for those who want them. You may eat in or carry-out.

2013-14 Valley Views Are Available

    The 2013-14 Water Valley High School Valley Views annuals have arrived. If you prepaid for an annual in the spring, you may see Joanne King at the high school to pick up your annual. If you did not purchase one, and wish to do so, there are a few extras for $55.

    Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will have its next stated communication on Thursday, September 4, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7 p.m. until further notice, and are requested to be present. Take due notice thereof and support your local lodge this year.

Order Of Eastern Star Sets Monthly Meeting For Tuesday

    Water Valley Chapter No.5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting Tuesday, September 9, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle beginning with a pot luck at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will begin at 7:30. Members are asked to please make an effort to attend and support your local chapter.
