JA Hosts BBQ, Blue Jeans & Blues Fundraiser For Children
Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is hosting BBQ, Blue Jeans & Blues, a fundraiser for children. This event will be held Saturday, October 11, at 5 p.m. on Enid Lake. Second In Series Of Poetry Readings Is Saturday
The second in a series of three Trobar Ric Poetry Readings will be held this Saturday, Oct. 11 beginning at 7 p.m. at Bozarts Gallery on Main Street. Four poets will be traveling here to read, according to Annette Trefzer, owner of Bozarts. They are Heidi Lynn Staples, Joseph P. Wood, Jonathan Minton, and Oxford’s Ann Fisher-Wirth. Organizers of the event are Ole Miss Masters of Fine Arts students Tim Earley and Jessica Comola.
Bobby Hood Band Takes The Stage Saturday At The VFW
Bobby Hood’s Band will provide the music for the regular Saturday Night Dance October 11. The music begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s building, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing or just listening to the music.
Car Show Benefits Potts Family
An open competition car show will be hosted by Driver’s Flat Baptist Church October 11, starting at 9 a.m. The church is located in Calhoun County on CR 284, two and one-fourth miles west of Highway 9W.
There will be a free fish or chicken dinner. Donations will be accepted to benefit James Potts, who battled cancer. There will be preaching/singing and a $200 cash prize drawing for car participants. For more info contact Stacy Watkins at (662) 832-9078 or Jerry Adams at (662) 934-4764.
Calder Reunion Is October 12
The annual Calder reunion will be held October 12 in the Multi-purpose Building, located at 18625 Highway 7, Coffeeville, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The lunch will be pot luck. Paper products have been provided. If you have any questions contact Cindy Ross at (662) 473-6172.
Coleman To Speak At YHS Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, October 16, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Allyson Coleman, Community Resource and Economic Development Extension Agent, will speak on “Growing the Community.”
Pickin’ On The Square Planned In Bruce
Pickin’ on the Square in Bruce will be held Saturday, October 18, from 10 a.m.-until. There will be gospel, bluegrass, and country music by Eddie Bollinger, Freddie Buchanan and friends, Ronald Edwards and friends, Keith and Judy Spratlin, and others. This will be acoustic music only! Annual James Bell Reunion Is Scheduled October 19
The annual James D. Bell Family Reunion will be held Sunday, October 19, at Cossar State Park. Family members are urged to attend, and visitors will be welcome.
Date Set For Annual Parade
The annual Water Valley Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 6, beginning at 1 p.m. The rain date will be the following Saturday, if needed. All churches, businesses, factories, school groups, and individuals are urged to participate in the Water Valley Christmas Parade. Contact J. C. Calhoun MHV Council Hosts Holiday Bazaar
The Calhoun County MHV Council is hosting the Calhoun County MHV Holiday Bazaar on November 14, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building at Pittsboro.
The MHV Council would like to invite vendors (clubs, individuals, businesses) to participate in the Holiday Bazaar. There will be a $10 refundable registration fee. Vendors must register before November 7. For a registration form, or more information, contact the Cahouns County Extension Office at 412-3177.
