Donations Needed For Cancer Patient Fundraiser
A benefit for Brenda Gray Ford, who is a cancer patient, will be held November 1. There will be a bake sale, yard sale, silent auction, and fish, hamburger, and hot dog plates will be sold. Donations of any items you don’t need or want, are requested. These items need to be picked up by October 25. Donations of yard sale items, hamburger meat, hot dogs, buns, drinks, cakes or pies, chips, slaw, hush puppies, and French fries are needed. Also needed are new items for the auction.

Raffle tickets, which are $10 each or 2 for $15, will be sold on a shotgun which will be given away the night of the benefit. There will be flyers circulated later with more details about the event, including the location and time.
Funds Needed For Cemetery Upkeep At Camp Ground
Funds are needed for the upkeep of Camp Ground Cemetery. The cost for this service is approximately $2,500 a season. Funds can be sent to Mechanics Bank, P. O. Box 707, Water Valley, MS 38965. Contributions are sorely needed. Thank you for your assistance.
Date Set For Annual Parade
The annual Water Valley Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 6, beginning at 1 p.m. The rain date will be the following Saturday, if needed.
All churches, businesses, factories, school groups, and individuals are urged to participate in the Water Valley Christmas Parade. Contact J. C. The parade is sponsored by the Tri-Lake Fairground Association.
Cossar Hosts Annual
Halloween Activities
Cossar State Park will hold the annual Halloween activities on Saturday, November 1. There will be games in the Visitor Center and also a cake walk. Also included in the activities will be a haunted trail. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open. Activities will start at 7 p.m. and conclude at 9:30.
Sanders Chapel Hosts Basketball Camp
There will be a basketball camp at Sanders Chapel Life Center October 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. This camp will be for ages 6-16 and the registration fee will be $3.
County Meeting For Democratic Party Scheduled October 25
A county meeting for the Democratic Party will be held Saturday, October 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Water Valley Courthouse. Officers of Yalobusha Democratic Party are: president, Butler McLeod; vice president, Anita Covington; secretary, Martha Brown; and assistant secretary, Carolyn Lear.
Music Scheduled Saturday, Meeting On Thursday At VFW
The Bobby Adams Band will be playing for the regular VFW Saturday Night Dance October 18. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s home, located at 11535 Hwy. 315, west of Water Valley. The music will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, or just listening, to the music.
A very important meeting is also scheduled Thursday, October 16, beginning at 7 p.m. All members of the VFW and the Auxiliary are urged to be present for this meeting. The meeting will be held in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.
