County Meeting For Democratic Party Scheduled October 25
A county meeting for the Democratic Party will be held Saturday, October 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Water Valley Courthouse. Officers of Yalobusha Democratic Party are: president, Butler McLeod; vice president, Anita Covington; secretary, Martha Brown; and assistant secretary, Carolyn Lear.
Donations Needed For Cancer Patient Fundraiser
A benefit for Brenda Gray Ford, who is a cancer patient, will be held November 1. There will be a bake sale, yard sale, silent auction, and fish, hamburger, and hot dog plates will be sold. Donations of any items you don’t need or want, are requested. These items need to be picked up by October 25. Donations of yard sale items, hamburger meat, hot dogs, buns, drinks, cakes or pies, chips, slaw, hush puppies, and French fries are needed. Also needed are new items for the auction. Raffle tickets, which are $10 each or 2 for $15, will be sold on a shotgun which will be given away the night of the benefit. There will be flyers circulated later with more details about the event, including the location and time.
Bobby Hood Band Performs At VFW On Saturday Night
The regular VFW Saturday night dance will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home October 25, beginning at 8 p.m. and concluding at 12 midnight. The Bobby Hood Band will provide the music. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, or just listening, to the music.
Tillatoba Fall Fest Is Saturday
The Tillatoba Fall Fest will be held Saturday, October 25, beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until ? There will be games, candy, prizes, food, a hay ride, a chili cook off, and a costume contest. Everyone, young and old, is invited to attend.
Masonic Chapters Schedule Joint Meeting On October 23
McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM, J.J. Melton Council No. 51 R&SM and St. Cyr No 6 will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, October 23, at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby notified that all three of these York Rite Bodies will now meet the same date every month. The meeting time will be at 7 p.m. until further notice. Members are requested to make a special effort to attend.
Pickin’ Shed Plans Music Friday And Saturday Night
A weekend of singing is scheduled at the Pickin’ Shed, located on Hwy. 9 West in Banner. On Friday, October 24, live music with The House Band, Inc., J.D Long and Bill Bailey, The Ellis Family and the Canaanlanders is scheduled. Saturday night is karaoke night. Music begins at 7 p.m. each night and a pot luck meal will be served at 6 both nights. All are welcome and there is no admission fee.
Cossar Hosts Annual Halloween Activities
Cossar State Park will hold the annual Halloween activities on Saturday, November 1. There will be games in the Visitor Center and also a cake walk. Also included in the activities will be a haunted trail. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open. Activities will start at 7 p.m. and conclude at 9:30.
