Arts Council Participants Will Be Marching And Kazooing In Parade
The Water Valley Arts Council will be marching and kazooing in the Christmas parade, December 6. The group will be costuming – decorating bikes, buggies or anything on wheels. Bobby Hood Band Performs At VFW Dance
The regular VFW Saturday night dance will be held November 8, beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until midnight. The Bobby Hood Band will provide the music and the dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship.
Valley City Lodge Sets Date For Next Stated Communication
Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will have its next stated Communication Thursday, November 6, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7 p.m. until further notice and are requested to be present.
Renasant Hosts Veterans Day Reception
A Veterans Day celebration reception will be held at Renasant Bank Friday, November 7, from one until four o’clock in the afternoon. Everyone is invited to attend.
Order Of Eastern Star Plans November 11 Meeting
Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 11, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The evening will begin with a pot luck at 6:30 p.m The meeting will begin at 7:30. Members are ask to please make an effort to attend and support your local chapter.
Numerous Bands Will Perform At Gospel Music Jubilee
A gospel music jubilee will be held in the Gore Springs Community Center November 8, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5. The Jubilee will feature: Witness 4 Him Quartet; Bobby Hawkins; Trailsmen; and Pickin’ Up the Pieces. A concession stand with hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, coffee, popcorn and homemade desserts will be available. Come out and enjoy a night of good entertainment.
City Will Close Offices For Veterans Day
The City of Water Valley City Hall and departments will be closed Tuesday November 11, 2014 to observe Veterans Day holiday. Tuesday’s garbage route will run as usual.
Library Scheduled Christmas Story Time, Tree Decorating
Blackmur Memorial Library will have a Christmas story time and Christmas tree decorating Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4-6 p.m. Parents are invited to bring their kids to the library to help us decorate our “Charlie Brown Christmas Tree” and to enjoy Christmas stories and snacks while dressed in their coziest pajamas. There will be ornaments for children to make and hang on the tree and members of the Friends of the Library will be reading some Christmas favorites. Book Fair Is Good Opportunity To Support School Library
The Davidson Elementary School library will host a scholastic book fair Nov. 10 – 14. The public is invited for Family/Community Night Monday, Nov. 10, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Please come visit us for paperback and hardback books, posters, and novelty items. Blackmur Memorial Library Hosting ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’
Water Valley, MS, November 3, 2014: The Blackmur Memorial Library Board will be hosting its annual “Charlie Brown Christmas” celebration for the children of the Water Valley community. The event will take place on Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the library.
Children are invited to attend the party in their pajamas, and activities will include ornament-making arts and crafts, decorating of the library Christmas tree, and a holiday reading.
“We decided to hold the party in the early evening this year,” said library board president Rubye Carr. “The Friends of the Library were interested in having a pajama-event for the children, and we felt that the Board’s annual celebration would be a fun time to do that.”
All Water Valley children and their families are invited to attend the event. Blackmur Memorial Drive is located at 608 Blackmur Drive in Water Valley.
