Arts Council Participants Will Be Marching And Kazooing In Parade

    The Water Valley Arts Council will be marching and kazooing in the Christmas parade, December 6. The group will be costuming – decorating bikes, buggies or anything on wheels. Kazoos, drums and found instruments will be played while marching. If interested in being part of the parade please call Pati D’Amico or Bill Warren at 662-473-0972. P.S. – The sparklier the better!

Public Is Invited To Holiday Open House At Blackmur

    The public is invited to a holiday open house at Blackmur Memorial Library Tuesday, Dec. 9. The open house will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will last until 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The open house is being presented by the Blackmur Library Board of Directors and the Friends of Blackmur Memorial Library. Pickin’ Shed Has Exciting Weekend Lineup Including Eisenhauer Band

Singing weekend at the Pickin’ Shed, Highway 9 West, Banner, is scheduled November 21 and 22. Come enjoy live music Friday night with The House Band Inc., J. D.Long and Bill Bailey, The Ellis Family, Malcolm Lindsey from Ripley, and other guest singers. Music begins at 7 p.m. and a potluck meal is served at 6 p.m.
The music action continues Saturday night with the Eisenhauer Band concert. The Eisenhauer family lives in Nashville and the band also includes Water Valley’s Bryan Ward. This is a paid concert and the tickets are $12 at the door. For more info, call (662) 473-6660.

Bobby Hood Band Performs At Saturday Night Dance

The Bobby Hood Band will provide music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on November 22. The dance, which begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight, is held in VFW Post 4100’s home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.  Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a night of fun.
Masonic Meetings Scheduled Third Thursday Due To Thanksgiving
McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM, J.J. Melton Council No. 50  R&SM, and St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, November 20, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The meetings have been moved to the third Thursday in November due to a conflict with the Thanksgiving holiday.
All members are hereby notified that all three of these York Rite Bodies will now meet on the same date every month. There will be a covered dish supper at 6 p.m, with family and friends invited. The meeting time will be 7 p.m. until further notice. Members are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Christmas Stories Will Be Shared At Cookie Exchange

There will be a cookie exchange at the Oakland Public Library, beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 3. Those attending are asked to bring two dozen  of your favorite cookies and your recipe. Favorite Christmas stories and memories will also be shared.

Lions Schedule Annual Christmas Cheese Sale

The Water Valley Lions Club will again be having their annual Christmas Cheese Sale. This year they have added Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Chocolate to their items for sale.

Garbage Pickup Schedule Changes In Water Valley For Thanksgiving

All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday November 28, 2014 to observe Thanksgiving.
Thursday’s residential garbage route will be picked up on Wednesday. Thursday’s commercial route and Friday’s commercial route will be picked up on Friday.
