Arts Council Schedules Monthly Meeting On Feb. 3

            The Water Valley Arts Council will be holding  its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Water Valley Main Street office, located at 207 N Main St. Items for discussion include fundraising ideas, exhibiting venues and more.

            You don’t have to be a member to come to the meetings, just have positive ideas and community spirit. For further info call Ramona Bernard at 473-9851 or Bill Warren at 473-0972 

 

Bobby Hood Band Takes The Stage At VFW Dance

            The Bobby Hood Band will provide music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on January 31. Music will  begin at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight. The dance is held in VFW 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, listening to the music, or just the fellowship.

 

Oakland Library Plans Book Signing

            The staff at Oakland Public Library invites everyone to join Friends of the Library for Black History Month featuring James Meredith’s book signing, “A Mission From God.” Mr. Meredith was the first African American student to enroll at Ole Miss in September 1962. The program will be held Wednesday, February 11,  beginning at 3 p.m.

 

Chamber Plans Ribbon Cuttings For New Businesses 

            The Water Valley Chamber Ambassadors will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Chamber office. The scheduled speaker is Bennie Turnage. Four ribbon cuttings will follow as they welcome Valley Vinyl, Reynolds Investment, Between Friends Restaurant and The Dixie Belle Cafe to the Valley.
