Oakland Library Plans Book Signing
The staff at Oakland Public Library invites everyone to join Friends of the Library for Black HIstory Month featuring James Meredith’s book signing, “A Mission From God.” Mr. Meredith was the first African American student to enroll at Ole Miss in September 1962. The program will be held Wednesday, February 11, beginning at 3 p.m.
Lions Club Members Serve Breakfast At The Depot
The first of the month Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. in the Depot Building on Main Street. The menu will be all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee for just $5 per plate. Lion’s cheese will also be available at this time.
“Come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast, some great fellowship, pick up some cheese, while helping fund the many charitable projects of the Lions’ Club,” invites Lion Ernie Aune.
Side Track Performs At VFW Saturday Dance
Providing music for the regular VFW Saturday Night Dance on February 7, will be the band, Side Track of Grenada. The dance is held in Post 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight.
Valley City Lodge Scheduled Communication
Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication on Thursday, February 5, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Registration For Baseball And Softball Starts Saturday
Magnolia Youth baseball and softball registration will begin Saturday, February 14 and continue through February 28, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. Registration is for ages 3-12 and will be held in the Crawford Sports Complex. The fee is $45 per child.
Woodmen Of The World Host Pancake Breakfast
The Paris Chapter of Woodmen of the World will host a free pancake breakfast Saturday, February 7, in the Paris Community Center/Fire Department from 7 until 10 a.m. Come out and enjoy the food and fellowship.
Sign up Is Underway For Watermelon Pageant
Sign up now for the 35th annual Watermelon Pageant. The pageant is a fundraiser for the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley and will be held Saturday, March 21. Boys ages 3-6 and girls ages 3-25 are welcome to enter. Entry fee is $20 and there will be a $5 entry fee at the time of the event. Entry deadline is March 16.
