Sign up Is Underway For Watermelon Pageant

            Sign up now for the 35th annual Watermelon Pageant.  The pageant is a fundraiser for the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley and will be held Saturday, March 21.  Boys ages 3-6 and girls ages 3-25 are welcome to enter.  Entry fee is $20 and there will be a $5 entry fee at the time of the event. Alzheimer’s Disease Is Topic At Monthly Historical Society Meeting

            The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, February 19, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  The speaker is Stanley McCarver, Oxford and his topic is the Alzheimer’s Disease.


Registration For Baseball And Softball Continues

            Magnolia Youth baseball and softball registration will begin Saturday, February 14 and continue through February 28, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. Registration is for ages 3-12 and will be held in the Crawford Sports Complex. The fee is $45 per child.


Church Hosts Benefit For Couple Who Lost Home

            The First Assembly of God Church of Water Valley will host a benefit singing/supper for Rev. Ronald and Jane Bear. They lost their home two days before Christmas when the severe tornado hit Columbia. They will be serving pulled Boston butt barbecue sandwiches and the fixings at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.

            The singing will begin promptly at 7 p.m. with the Burney family, Nannette Hardy Morrisett, and the First Assembly Praise Singers along with several local singers taking the stage.
