Blackmur Library Puts Out Call To All Area Princesses

            Blackmur Memorial Library is putting out a call to all area princesses. There will be a Princess Tea Party at the library Saturday, March 28, from 10-11:30 a.m. Parents can bring their little princesses, ages 5-10 years old, dressed in their finest royal attire for the fun.

            Space is limited to 25 princesses so parents will need to come by the library to register and receive an invitation. The invitation will be the ticket to the event. If you would like to register, please come by the library between now and Friday, March 27. Library hours are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Registration will be on a first come-first served basis and cannot be done over the phone. Youngsters Invited To Hunt Eggs At VFW

            An Easter egg hunt is scheduled at VFW Post 4100’s Home on April 4, beginning at 11 a.m. Six to 12 year-old children are invited to bring their baskets and hunt eggs at this time. The Post is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.

 

Litten Is Speaker At March YHS Meeting

            The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, March 19, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker will be Lawrence Litten. Visitors are welcome.

  

JA’s Watermelon Pageant Is This Saturday

            Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is presenting it’s annual Watermelon Pageant this Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m. at the city auditorium. Contestants still looking to enter contact ekeel@wvsd.k12.ms.us. There is a $5 door fee and Jay Gee’s will be selling roses for $10. 

  

Lt. Governor Is Speaker At Annual Chamber Banquet

            The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce has finalized details for the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet. The banquet will be held Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activities Building. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves will be the guest speaker. Tickets can be purchased from any Chamber Board Member, Chamber Office, Mechanics Bank and Turnage Drug Store. Check the Herald in the coming weeks for more publicity about the event.

  

Southern Breeze Band Performs At Weekend Dance

            The Southern Breeze Band will provide music for the regular Saturday night VFW Dance on March 21. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, listening to the music, or just some great fellowship.

 

Jeff Davis Books Are Available For Public Inspection

             The books of the Jeff Davis Rural Water Association have been audited by a certified public accountant. The report may be viewed at the Blackmur Memorial Library, 608 Blackmur Dr., Water Valley, MS 38965. A copy can also be mailed upon written request to Jeff Davis Rural Water Association, 6113 CR 436, Water Valley, MS 38965.

 

Highways And Hedges Invites Candidates To Speak 

            Highways and Hedges Boys and Girls Recreation Center is having a banquet Saturday, March 28, beginning at 6 p.m. All candidates who are running for public office will be given an opportunity to address the public between 6 and 7 p.m.      Tickets can be picked up at Rockette Studio in Water Valley, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. For more information call (662) 473-3759.
