Valley City Lodge Will  Hold Communication April 2

            Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication on Thursday, April 2, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby reminded that the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and are requested to be present.


Interest Meeting Scheduled For Oakland Farmer’s Market

            An interest meeting is scheduled Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at the old Presbyterian Church in Oakland, next to the Oakland library. The purpose of this meeting is to identify new growers in the community that would like to participate and to bring some of the established growers of the Oakland market together to market fruits and vegetables this summer.


Annual Easter Activities Scheduled At Cossar State Park

            Cossar State park will have the annual Easter activities Saturday, April 4. The egg hunt will start at 10 a.m. and there will be games and other activities after the egg hunt. This will all be held behind the visitor center. The Easter Bunny will be present, along with Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open.


Youngsters Invited To Hunt Eggs At VFW

            An Easter egg hunt is scheduled at VFW Post 4100’s Home on April 4, beginning at 11 a.m. Six to 12 year-old children are invited to bring their baskets and hunt eggs at this time. The Post is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.


Lt. Governor Is Speaker At Annual Chamber Banquet

            The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce has finalized details for the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet. The banquet will be held Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activities Building. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves will be the guest speaker. Tickets can be purchased from any Chamber Board Member, Chamber Office, Mechanics Bank and Turnage Drug Store. Check the Herald in the coming weeks for more publicity about the event.

Monthly Singings At Pickin’ Shed Are Cancelled

            The monthly singing, with live music and karaoke, will not have music on March 28 as previously scheduled. The monthly singings will be discontinued until further notice. The Pickin’ Shed is open for regular business on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 9-5.


Highways And Hedges Invites Candidates To Speak

            Highways and Hedges Boys and Girls Recreation Center is having a banquet Saturday, March 28, beginning at 6 p.m. All candidates who are running for public office will be given an opportunity to address the public between 6 and 7 p.m. Tickets can be picked up at Rockette Studio in Water Valley, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. For more information call (662) 473-3759.

Chamber Seeks Contestants For Miss Hospitality Contest

            The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a 2015 Miss Hospitality Contest. Applications are available at the Chamber Office. To enter you must be between  the ages of 18 and 24 years. Contestants must also have at least a 2.5 GPA, be a high school graduate, and have a Water Valley address. The State Pageant will be held  July 31-August 1 and the winner of the local contest must be available to attend the State Pageant.


York Bodies Set Meeting Date

            The York Rite bodies of Water Valley will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, March 26, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend.
