Chamber Seeks Contestants For Miss Hospitality Contest

            The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a 2015 Miss Hospitality Contest. Applications are available at the Chamber Office. To enter you must be between  the ages of 18 and 24 years. Contestants must also have at least a 2.5 GPA, be a high school graduate, and have a Water Valley address. The State Pageant will be held  July 31-August 1 and the winner of the local contest must be available to attend the State Pageant.


Broadstreet Cemetery Group Schedules Annual Meeting

            The Broadstreet Cemetery Group will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the cemetery. Please bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the meeting will be held the following Sunday. Officers and trustees are: Mike Thornton, president; Wayne “Chuck” Miller, secretary; Brenda Eubanks, treasurer; James Edwards, trustee; and Edward Eubanks; trustee. Anyone who has relatives buried in Broadstreet is urged to attend, and to share this information with those who might not otherwise know about the meeting.


Lions’ Club Serve Pancake Breakfast Saturday

            The Water Valley Lions’ Club will have their first of the month Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning, April 4, from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Depot Building on Main Street. For only $5 per plate you may eat all you care to of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. At this time you may also purchase some great Lions cheese.

            “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast, buy some cheese, and enjoy some wonderful fellowship, while helping fund the many charities of the Lions Club,” stated Lion Ernie Aune.


Arts Council Sets Date For Monthly Meeting

            The Water Valley Arts Council will have its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Water Valley Main Street Office, 207 North Main Street. You do not have to be a member to come to the meetings. Enthusiasm and community spirit are always welcomed. Operation Christmas Child Team Seeks Volunteers

Bobby Hood Band Performs At VFW Dance

            Providing music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on April 4 will be the Bobby Hood Band, with Jimmy Dickey on saxophone. The music begins at 8 p.m. and conclud at midnight. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, listening to the music, or just enjoying some great fellowship.


Youngsters Invited To Hunt Eggs At VFW

            An Easter egg hunt is scheduled at VFW Post 4100’s Home on April 4, beginning at 11 a.m. Six to 12 year-old children are invited to bring their baskets and hunt eggs at this time. The Post is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.


Annual Easter Activities Scheduled At Cossar State Park

            Cossar State Park will host the annual Easter activities Saturday, April 4. The egg hunt will start at 10 a.m. and there will be games and other activities following the egg hunt. The activities will be held behind the visitor center at the state park. Special guests include the Easter Bunny, along with Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open during the event.
