Blackmur Library Will Have Christmas Tree Decorating Party
Blackmur Memorial Library will have its Charlie Brown Christmas Tree decorating party Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 4-5 p.m. Parents are invited to bring their kids to the library to help decorate the Christmas tree. Arts Council Schedules Monthly Meeting
The Water Valley Arts Council will have a monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m., at the Water Valley Main Street Association office located at 207 North Main Street. Topics for discussion include The Great Invention Illumination, Christmas event, and input on the establishment of a Yearly Arts Event Calendar. You do not have to be a member to attend the meetings. Flag Retirement Ceremony Planned On November 13
Worn-out tattered American flags will be retired properly on Sunday, November 13, at 2 p.m. at Oxford City Pavilion (old armory) on University Avenue. The Flag Retirement Ceremony will be sponsored by David Reese Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with assistance from Girl Scout Troop #13213.
“Respecting our American flag is the goal of this project,” said Lucia Holloway, DAR member. “Please call me at 473-1380 if you have a flag that you would like to be part of this ceremony.”
Garden Club Sponsors Essay Contest For High School Students
“We Need Pollinators” is the theme of an essay contest for high school students, grades 9-12, sponsored by The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. The deadline to submit a 600 to 700 word entry is Dec. 1. The prize is $200. Students interested in participating should contact Jeannie Clement at 473-3589 or Lucia Holloway at 473-1380 or any member of The Town & Country Garden Club.
Extension Services Hosts Homebuyers’ Class
There will be a homebuyer education class held at the Yalobusha County Extension Building on Thursday, November 10th from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. This certified program will allow homebuyers to receive a certificate for credit toward various potential home buying loan agencies. Lunch will not be provided at the class; however, participants will take lunch from 12-1 p.m.

Order Of The Eastern Star Set Meeting Date For Nov. 8
Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 8, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The meeting will begin with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30.
Pleasant Grove Church Sponsors Family Faith Conference
A Community Family Faith Conference is scheduled Nov. 5 in Pleasant Grove M.B. Church, located at 21967 Highway 7, Coffeeville. Rev. Larry Hervey is pastor of the host church. Guest facilitator will be Pastor Calvin Hawkins. On the program will be: Pastor Jono Reed, entrepreneur; Deedra Cooper Kimble, RN; Terence Williams, software developer; Cynthia Pittman-Pulliam, K-12 educator; and Luther Folson, police chief. The program will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be available.
Topics will be Health Screenings; Balanced Meals on a Budget; Financial Planning; Preparing for Life Events; Legal Assistance; Practical Uses for Techonology/Apps; Studying the Word/The Importance of Worship; Police and Community Relations; Child Safety; and Youth Activities. There will also be door prizes and much more.
