FAFSA Workshop Scheduled For Seniors At Water Valley High School
There will be a FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) workshop for seniors on Monday, January 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Water Valley High School. Parents are invited and will need to bring social security numbers for themselves and the student, 2015 income tax return information, an email address, and their driver’s license to the meeting. There will be a sign-up sheet outside the school counselor’s door to reserve a time slot. If there are any questions please feel free to call Brandy Vollbracht, School Counselor, at (662) 473-2468.
Computer Basics Class Offered At Extension Service On Feb. 7
A computer basics class is scheduled Tuesday, February 7, from 1:30 – 3:30 at the Yalobusha Co. Extension Office. This free class will cover basic concepts and is ideal if you are new to using computers; wonder what people mean when they say the cloud, Windows, ISP, or app; or perhaps just want to know more about how computers work.
You are required to bring your own computer to this training. Space is limited to six participants, please call the Yalobusha County Extension Office by Monday, February 6, 5 p.m. to register. Only participants registered will be allowed to attend this training.
Monthly Robotics Club Meeting Coincides With Statewide Kickoff
The county’s 4H Robotics Club will meet on Tuesday, January 31, at the Yalobusha Co. Extension Office. The program will be the Youth Robot Rally, which is the annual robotics kick-off around the state. Robotics is still accepting new members!

Friday Bingo Is Back Going At The VFW
Friday night bingo will resume this week at VFW Post 4100, located at 11535 Hwy. 315. Bingo play will begin at 7 p.m., with the doors opening at 6 p.m.
On Saturday night, the weekly dance begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. Providing music for the dance will be Bobby Hood and Sandra Martin. Everyone is invited to attend this event.
County’s Historical Society Will Meet On January 19
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, January 19, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker is YHS member Sarah Payne Reeves, and she will be talking about her book “Holcomb Memories.” Refreshments are served afterwards, and visitors are welcome.
Alcorn Professor Is Guest Speaker At Annual MLK Celebration
Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Moriah Association Building on County Road 211, between Coffeeville and Oakland.
Dr. Ivory Lyles, Dean of the School of Agriculture and Applied Science at Alcorn State University will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited. Lunch will be served.
