Annual Bill Lipscomb Memorial Rodeo Is February 25

The 13th annual Bill Lipscomb Memorial Rodeo is scheduled February 25 in the Batesville Civic Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; children’s activities begin at 6:30 p.m.; and the rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Admission is: adults, $13; children four to 10, $11; and children 3 and under, get in free.

Advance reserved seat tickets are available at: the Batesville Civic Center Box Office; online at tickets.batesvilleciviccenter-ms.com/ or by telephone at (662) 563-1392. The box office is open Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ticket window will open at 5 p.m. on the day of the rodeo and one hour into the event.


Annual Star Nite Talent Show Will Be Held April 1

The 30th annual Star Nite Talent Show will be held Saturday, April 1st,  in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the talent show begins at 7:45 p.m. and will conclude at 11 p.m. The program will include dance groups, RAP groups, and lip singing—be the star you always wanted to be. All acts must be free of profanity.

A cash prize of $150 will be awarded to the grand prize winner, along with trophy awards to individual winners. 

Performing will be dance groups from Batesville and Charleston, along with many other groups and individuals. Get your group together, or perform as an individual.

This event is sponsored by Coach Freddie Folson’s softball teams. Call 230-4521 to enter or for more information.


Final Day For Baseball, Softball Signup Is Saturday

  The final day for baseball and softball signup in the Magnolia Youth League will be Saturday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration is for ages 3-12 and will be held at the Crawford Sports Complex. The fee is $45 per child. Boys and girls, ages 7-12 will try out on Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. Weekend Activities At The VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance 

Activities at VFW Post 4100’s Post Home for the weekend include bingo on Friday night, February 24. Doors will open at 5 p.m. sales begin at 6, and play will begin a 7.

Providing music for the regular Saturday night dance on February 25 will be Bobby Hood and Sandra Martin. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music begins at 8 and concludes at midnight. Everyone is invited attend to attend both these events. The Post Home  is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.


Pickin’ Shed Hosts Live Music On Friday, Karoake On Saturday

The Pickin’ Shed will host live music Friday night, Feb. 24

at 7 p.m. Gospel Reunion from Oxford, The Ellis Family from Pope, The House Band, and other local talent will provide the music.

On Saturday night, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.,  The Pickin’ Shed is hosting karoake.  Singers are invited and welcome. A pot luck meal will be served both nights at 6 p.m. Bring your favorite dish and come join in the fellowship. Donations accepted on Friday night, there is a $5 cover charge on Saturday night. Alcohol is prohibited.


York Bodies Plan Monthly Meeting

Water Valley York Rite bodies will have their monthly meetings Thursday, February 23, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. A light  meal will be served after the meeting.


North Central Provides Transportation In The County

North Central Planning and Development District/Area on Aging is providing transportation service for persons who are 60 years of age and older. Trips are provided only in the Yalobusha County Area. You may call the driver, Mary Townes, at (662) 714-0507 to schedule trips.
