JA Sponsors Jessie Ostrander Memorial Scholarship
Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is sponsoring the Jessie D. Ostrander Memorial Scholarship for 2016-17 graduating seniors of Water Valley High School. The scholarship is $1,500 per semester for one academic year. If you are interested, see Brandy Vollbracht at the Water Valley High School counselor’s office for an application. County’s Democrats Plan Spring Meeting On April 1
The Democratic Party Committee of Yalobusha County will have their spring annual Meeting on Saturday, April 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Oakland Town Hall and everyone interested is invited to attend.
Oxford Maker’s Market Is April 1
The next Oxford Maker’s Market is Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. There will be 40 vendors, featuring a wide variety of handmade and homegrown goods. Oxford Maker’s Market will be hosting the Oxford Artist’s Guild. Live music by Davis Coen will begin at noon. This is a family friendly event and is free to the public.
The Oxford Maker’s Market is Mississippi’s original local handmade and homegrown market based in Oxford. It occurs every first and third Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the courthouse lawn of the historic Oxford Square. The Oxford Maker’s Market is committed to underexposed and unrepresented talent and handmade goods of any and all styles. The market provides an outlet for vendors of a wide variety of mediums and a live performance area for performing artists at each event.

WVHS Graduation Ceremony Will Be Held At Football Field
The Water Valley High School graduation ceremony will be held on Friday May 19, at Bobby Clark Field in Water Valley, at 7 p.m. This marks a change from recent years, when the ceremony was held at the University of Mississippi.
Earn Your Diploma From ChalleNGe Academy
Students may earn their high school diploma, tuition free, from ChalleNGe Academy. As part of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, male and female at-risk youth, 16-18 years of age, learn job training, social skills and self-discipline, critical in today’s tough job market.

Starnite Talent Show Scheduled For April 1 At Civic Auditorium
The 33rd annual Starnite Talent Show will be held Saturday, April 1, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.and show time is from 7:45 until 11:15. This event offers the opportunity to be the star you always wanted to be. There will be dance groups, individuals, musicians, singers, and rap. All acts must be clean with no profanity. Trophies will be warded and there will be a $150 cash award to the overall winner. This show is sponsored by Freddie Folson Sports. For more information call (662) 230-4521. Deadline Is March 31 To Sign Up For ServSafe Food Class
ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught April 25, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The certification exam will begin around 4 p.m. and should be completed by 6 p.m. The class will be held at the Yalobusha County Extension Office in Coffeeville and cost $140. Deadline Is Friday To Sign Up For Homebuyer Education Class
A homebuyer education class is scheduled at the Yalobusha County Extension Building on Thursday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This certified program will allow homebuyers to receive a certificate for credit toward various potential home buying loan agencies.
Lunch will not be provided at the class; however, participants will take lunch from 12-1 p.m. There will be a $50 dollar fee for the class. Payments may be received through money order only.
