JA Sponsors Jessie Ostrander Memorial Scholarship 

  Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is sponsoring the Jessie D. Ostrander Memorial Scholarship for 2016-17 graduating seniors of Water Valley High School. The scholarship is $1,500 per semester for one academic year. If you are interested,  see Brandy Vollbracht at the Water Valley High School counselor’s office for an application. Friends Of Cossar To Honor Retiring Park Employee

Friends of Cossar and the Cossar State Park staff members invite the public come out Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. to honor Gail Robbins Collins on her retirement.  The reception will be held at Cossar State Park’s meeting room. Gail has faithfully served the campers and fellow workers at Cossar since August 1, 1988.

County’s Democrats Plan Spring Meeting On April 1 

The Democratic Party Committee of Yalobusha County will  have their spring annual meeting on Saturday, April 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The  meeting will be held in the Oakland Town Hall and everyone interested is invited to attend.

 Starnite Talent Show Scheduled For April 1 At Civic Auditorium

The 33rd annual Starnite Talent Show will be held Saturday, April 1, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.and show time is from 7:45 until 11:15 p.m. This event offers the opportunity to be the star you always wanted to be. There will be dance groups, individuals, musicians, singers, and rap. All acts must be clean with no profanity. Trophies will be warded and there will be a $150 cash award to the overall winner. This show is sponsored by Freddie Folson Sports. For  more information call (662) 230-4521. Groups from Charleston and Batesville and a dance group from Oxford have already signed up.

Weekend Music Planned At The Pickin’ Shed

The Pickin’ Shed will host live music this weekend. On Friday, The House Band, Good Times Express and other local talent will take the stage. The fun continues Saturday with karaoke, and singers are invited to try their turn with the mic. 

Singing starts at 7 p.m. both nights, with a potluck supper planned at 6 p.m. also on both nights. . Bring your favorite dish and come join in the fellowship. Donations are accepted on Friday night and there is a $5 cover charge on Saturday night. Alcohol is prohibited.

Bingo, Saturday Dance Scheduled At VFW Post 4100

Bingo will be played at VFW Post Home 4100 Friday night, March 24, beginning at 7. The doors will open at 5 and sales begin at 6. Providing music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on March 25 will be Bobby Hood and Sandra Martin. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.

School Board Announces Meeting Date

The Water Valley School board will meet Monday, March 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Water Valley School’s Central Office. This is a public meeting and everyone is invited to attend.

Annual Charity Ball Is April 22

  Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s 5th Annual Charity Event will be held Saturday, April 22, in Bozarts Art Gallery on Main Street. The cost of the event will be $30 for one or $50 for two. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. There will be a silent auction, food, music/entertainment, photo booth, and much more. Tickets can be purchased from any JA member or from Bozarts Art Gallery. 

“Please come and support our charity event. All  proceeds will benefit the children in Water Valley. We look forward to seeing each of you there,” stated Vickie Person.
