Annual Charity Ball Is April 22

Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s fifth annual Charity Event will be held Saturday, April 22, in Bozarts Art Gallery on Main Street. The cost of the event will be $30 for one or $50 for two. The ball will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. There will be a silent auction, food, music/entertainment, photo booth, and much more. Tickets can be purchased from any JA member or from Bozarts Art Gallery. 

“Please come and support our charity event. All proceeds will benefit the children in Water Valley. We look forward to seeing each of you there,” stated Vickie Person 


Weekend Activities At The VFW Include Bingo, Dance

  Bingo will be played at VFW Post Home 4100 Friday night, April 14, beginning at 7. The doors will open at 5 and sales begin at 6. Providing music for the regular VFW Saturday Night Dance on April 15 will be Bobby Hood and Sandra Martin. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.


Multiple Year-End Activities At School Scheduled In May

The graduation ceremony for Water Valley High School graduating seniors will be held Friday, May 19, beginning at 7 p.m. at Bobby Clark Field. The alternate location will be Saturday, May 20, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Water Valley High School Gymnasium, if necessary.

Scholarship opportunities are available in the counselor’s office. The 7th-11th grades awards night will be Tuesday, May 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  in the Civic Auditorium. Letters will be sent home to parents of recognized students closer to the date. The Senior Walk Through/Awards Day will be held Friday, May 12, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Water Valley High School Gymnasium. All parents of seniors are invited.


Yalobusha Historical Society To Meet On Thursday, April 20

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday April 20, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  The speaker is Michelle Weaver Jones, and her topic is historical preservation.  Michelle is on the staff of the Mississippi Department of Archives and is the Local Preservation Assistance Coordinator. Visitors are welcome.


Valley City Lodge Sets Date For Next Stated Communication

Valley City Lodge No. 402 will hold its next stated communication on Thursday, April 6, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are reminded to attend and support your local Lodge.


Northwest Students Plan Reunion

All former students of Northwest Mississippi Community College (formerly junior college) are invited to attend a reunion Wednesday, April 26, beginning at 11 a.m., at Cracker Barrel at Batesville.


Burke Is Speaker At Library’s Brown Bag Luncheon

Blackmur Memorial Library will have Anne Burke speaking at a brown bag luncheon Wednesday, April 19 at noon. Burke’s presentation will focus on applying backyard gardening to make your daily life better. She will focus on items such as vegetables and herbs which can be grown in containers in the yard and can be refrigerated for daily use in items like health drinks.

Cossar State Park Will Have Egg Hunt On April 15

Cossar State Park’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m. There will also be games and concessions for ages 0-12. Those attending are asked to bring their own Easter basket. The event will be held at 165 CR 170, Oakland. For more information call (662) 623-7356.
