SENATOBIA –  The Water Valley Blue Devils (8-15) traveled to Senatobia last Friday, to take on the Senatobia Warriors (9-14) in a non-division matchup.

The Blue Devils used dominant pitching from Dre McCray and Blayne Clark to cruise to a 7-2 victory over the 4A Warriors.

McCray started the game for Water Valley, pitching five innings and only allowing four hits and one earned run. Clark pitched the final two innings, shutting out Senatobia and not allowing a hit to earn the save.

Offensively, the Blue Devils were led by Gavin Darby who had four of the team’s eight hits and also drove in two runs to help lead Water Valley to a 7-2 victory. The win improved the Blue Devils to (8-14) on the season.

Following the win over Senatobia, the Blue Devils traveled to Southaven, to face off against the Southaven Chargers. The Blue Devils were unable to carry over the momentum from their win the day before, falling to the Chargers by a final score of 11-0.

Offensively, Water Valley was held to only one hit by a stellar pitching performance from Southaven. The loss dropped the Blue Devils to (8-15) on the season.

The Blue Devils will be back in action this Friday, as they host the Nettleton Tigers(17-8) for a three game series in the 1st round of the 3A MHSAA Playoffs. Game 2 will be played in Nettleton on Saturday night, and if necessary Game 3 will take place on Monday at Water Valley.
