Annual Charity Ball Is April 22

Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s fifth annual Charity Event will be held Saturday, April 22, in Bozarts Art Gallery on Main Street. The cost of the event will be $30 for one or $50 for two. The ball will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. There will be a silent auction, food, music/entertainment, photo booth, and much more. Tickets can be purchased from any JA member or from Bozarts Art Gallery. 

“Please come and support our charity event. All proceeds will benefit the children in Water Valley. We look forward to seeing each of you there,” stated Vickie Person 

Pickin’ Shed Plans Weekend Music

The Pickin’ Shed will host live music with Voices of Victory from Corinth, The Ellis Family from Pope, David Phillips from Bruce and The House Band on Friday night, April 21. The action continues Saturday night, April 22 with karaoke singers invited. The fun starts both nights at 6 p.m.with a potluck meal at 6 pm. and music getting underway at 7 p.m.. Bring your favorite dish and come join in the fellowship. Donations accepted on Friday night and there is a $5 cover charge on Saturday night. Alcohol is prohibited.

Historical Preservation Is Topic At Thursday’s YHS Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday April 20, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  The speaker is Michelle Weaver Jones, and her topic is historical preservation. Michelle is on the staff of the Mississippi Department of Archives and is the Local Preservation Assistance Coordinator. Visitors are welcome.

Oakland Library Hosts Program On Native Americans

A program on native American Indians will be held in the Oakland Public Library on Wednesday, April 26, beginning at 3 p.m. Did you ever wonder where the Indians came from or how they got here?  Connor Vick will answer these questions and talk about the Choctaw and  Chickasaw Tribes during this meeting. Refreshment will be served.

School Board Sets April 24 Meeting

The Water Valley School Board will meet Monday, April 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Water Valley School’s Central office. This is a public meeting and everyone is invited to attend.

Northwest Students Plan Reunion

All former students of Northwest Mississippi Community College (formerly junior college) are invited to attend a reunion Wednesday, April 26, beginning at 11 a.m., at Cracker Barrel at Batesville.

Pine Valley Yard Sale Planned For May 6

The Pine Valley Yard Sale will be held May 6, beginning at 8 a.m. There will be  no early sales. The sale will be held in the Pine Valley Schoolhouse at the intersection of Highway 32 East and Country Road 212. Claim your space early. A 10×10’ booth is $15 and bigger spaces are available. If you have items to sell but don’t want to set up a booth, we will accept your goods for our own sale. All our funds go to the upkeep of the schoolhouse. 

Refreshments will be also be available for purchase. We will also be selling tickets for a $100 bill. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Weekend Activities At The VFW Include Bingo, Dance

  Weekend activities at VFW Post 4100 for April 21 and 22 will include Friday night bingo, starting at 7 p.m. and the Saturday night dance, starting at 8 p.m. On Friday, the doors will open at 5 p.m. and sales begin at 6. Providing music for the Saturday night dance is Bobby Hood. The music concludes at midnight. 

Everyone is invited to come out and party with members of the VFW Post 4100 in the Post Home, located at 11535, Highway 315, west of Water Valley.
