Oxford Makers Market Is May 6
The next Oxford Maker’s market is Saturday, May 6. The market will be on the courthouse lawn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with 40 vendors featuring a wide variety of handmade/homegrown goods. Live music by And The Echo will begin at noon. This is a family-friendly event and is free to the public. This event, which occurs every first and third Saturday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., is committed to underexposed and unrepresented talent and handmade goods of any and all styles.
York Rite Bodies Plan Monthly Meeting On April 27
Water Valley York Rite Bodies will have their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 27, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are reminded to attend.

Pine Valley Yard Sale Is May 6
The Pine Valley Yard Sale will be held May 6, beginning at 8 a.m. There will be no early sales. The sale will be held in the Pine Valley Schoolhouse at the intersection of Highway 32 East and Country Road 212. Claim your space early. A 10×10’ booth is $15 and bigger spaces are available. If you have items to sell but don’t want to set up a booth, we will accept your goods for our own sale. All our funds go to the upkeep of the schoolhouse.
Refreshments will be also be available for purchase. We will also be selling tickets for a $100 bill. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. National Day Of Prayer Will Be Observed On May 4
A local community observance of the National Day of Prayer will be held at noon on Thursday, May 4, at the flagpole in the Crawford Sports Complex at Water Valley. The 2017 theme is: For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us…Forgive Us…Heal Us! Taken from Daniel 9:19, which says, O Lord Listen! O Lord Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God…”.
Several local ministers and vocalists will lead in prayer and song. Everyone is encouraged to join them. In case of rain, this observance will be held in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.
“Please plan to join your fellow citizens as we pray for our nation, our president and other elected officials, our military, our schools, the challenges facing our nation, and our churches,” says Barron Caulfield, NDP Committee member.
Weekend Events At The VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance
Weekend events at VFW Post 4100’s Home will begin with bingo on Friday night, April 28. Books sales will begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7. The regular Saturday night dance will be held on April 29. Providing music for the dance will be Peggy and the Chosen Few. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events.
North Central Area On Aging Announces The Over 60 Celebration
North Central Area on Aging announces the Over 60 Celebration, which will be held May 3, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This is a free event for anyone 60 or over. Janie Walters will be the guest speaker. There will also be exercises, a Medicare Minute, a Health Fair, entertainment, food and fun. The Celebration will be held in the Montgomery County Coliseum at Winona.
