Benefit Planned For Dewayne Potts
A benefit for Dewayne Potts, who has been diagnosed with leukemia, will be held at VFW Post 4100, Water Valley on May 13. Spaghetti plates will be available for $10. There will be a motorcycle run and registration begins at noon, with a KSU at 1. Drivers will be $15 and riders are $10 with meal included. Serving will start at 2:30. An auction will begin a 3 p.m. and entertainment will follow. All proceeds will go towards medical expenses. Deadline Is Friday To Register For Home Buyer Education Class
There will be a homebuyer education class held at the Yalobusha County Extension Building on Thursday, May 25, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This certified program will allow homebuyers to receive a certificate for credit toward various potential home buying loan agencies. Lunch will not be provided at the class; however, participants will take lunch from 12-1 p.m. There will be a $50 dollar fee for the class. Payments may be received through money order only.

Parental Consent Forms Must Be Filled Our For Students To Have Physicals
Water Valley School District Athletic Director Brad Embry reported that annual medical physicals are scheduled Thursday for all students who plan to participate in sports in the upcoming school year.
Students at Davidson Elementary School and Water Valley High School have received parental consent forms to take home. The forms must be filled out and signed by the parent/guardian in order for a student to receive a physical on Thursday.
Faust Will Speak On Denley Family History At YHS Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 18, at 2 p.m.. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker is Lee Denley Faust, and her topic is the Denley Family and her new book.
Multiple Year End Activities At School Scheduled In May
The graduation ceremony for Water Valley High School graduating seniors will be held Friday, May 19, beginning at 7 p.m. at Bobby Clark Field. The alternate location will be Saturday, May 20, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Water Valley High School Gymnasium, if necessary.
The Senior Walk Through/Awards Day will be held Friday, May 12, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Water Valley High School Gymnasium. All parents of seniors are invited.
Grenada Heritage And Music Festival Scheduled June 30 – July 1
The Grenada Heritage and Music Festival will be held on Grenada’s Main Street June 30 and July 1. Admission if free. There will be food and clothing vendors. On June 30, beginning at 7 p.m. entertainment will be provided by Honey Please, Mississippi Marshall, with the Oxford All Stars Band as the headliner. On July 1, beginning a 7 p.m., entertainment will be by Big Joe Shelton, Lewis Johnson and The No Name Band, with Leo “Bud” Welch as the headliner.
4-H Robotics Camp Planned In July
The Yalobusha County Bots will hold a “Robotics Camp” on Tuesday, July 25th – Thursday, July 27th from 1-4 p.m. All kids ages 7-13 years old are welcome to attend. The cost of the camp is $25 per child for supplies. Registration is limited to 20 participants; therefore, pre-registration is important. Your child is not considered registered for the camp until fees have been paid. Deadline for registration is Friday, July 14.
Annual Cemetery Day Planned At Mt. Liberty Church
The annual Cemetery Day is planned at Mt. Liberty Church on Saturday, May 20, beginning at 10:30 a.m. There will be a pot luck lunch in the fellowship hall at noon after a brief business meeting. VFW Schedules Dance, Bingo
Weekend events at VFW Post 4100’s Home will begin with Bingo on Friday night, May 12. Book sales will begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7. The regular Saturday night dance is May 13. Providing music for the dance will be Bobby Hood. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315 West.
