Healing Sound Therapy Offered On June 23

Susannah Furr, M. Ed, licensed counselor, will present  a Healing Sound Therapy (Singing Bowls) class at the home of Pati D’Amico and Bill Warren on Friday, June 23, at 6 p.m., 

This energetic system is closely related to the nervous system and enlivens many other body systems such as digestive, circulatory, and respiratory system.

The therapy helps to clear and align-making you feel revived and balanced. Space is limited to 25 people-so please call to make a reservation. The  fee is $10 for one and a half hours.Please bring Yoga mats, pillows or blankets.

 Blackmur Library Will Kick Off Summer Reading Program

It’s a summer of reading, crafts and activities at Blackmur Memorial Library. The dates for the library’s summer program, for children ages kindergarten through sixth grade, will be Wednesday, June 21st and 28th and July 12th from 9-11 a.m. There will be a carnival with games, activities and prizes Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

The June 21, 28 and July 12 session will feature a story time, crafts, activities and snacks. The July 29 carnival will feature outdoor games, snacks, a prize chest and other fun activities.  Gurner Will Discuss Photo Exhibit During Gallery Talk At Bozarts

Bozarts on Main Street will present a Gallery Talk with photographer Jack Gurner on June 16. Gurner will discuss his current photographic exhibit at the Gallery, On The Streets: Memphis 1977- 1983. The talk is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.


Baseball Team Will Sell Boston Butts 

The Water Valley High School baseball team is selling Boston Butts for $30.  Tickets may be purchased for pick up on Friday, June 23rd or Saturday, June 24.  Tickets may be purchased from any high school baseball player or Coach Jeb Lee. Your support is greatly appreciated. 


Second Chance Animal Alliance Will Have Yard Sale Fundraiser

Second Chance Animal Alliance is having a yard sale June 15, 16, and 17, in their new building at 11170 Highway 315 North. The volunteers are accepting donations until Monday, June 12. Call or text Ms. Pam at (901) 299-5996, to set up a drop off time. 

“We will have all kind of goodies for sale, so y’all come on out,” stated Mandy Mills. 


Class Of 1972 Plans 45th Class Reunion On July 1

The Water Valley High School Class of 1972 is having a 45th Class Reunion on July 1 at 3409 CR 53 (Boat Landing Road). All members, who were part of this class from grammar school, junior high, or high school, are invited to attend. Those attending are ask to bring a finger food or dish of your choice and a lawn chair. Please come from near or far and represent your Class of 1972. The reunion will be from 11 a.m. until. Should you have questions please contact a local class member.


Weekend Events At VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance

Weekend events at VFW Post 4100’s Home will begin with bingo on Friday night, June 9. Book sales will begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7. The regular Saturday night dance will be held on June 10. Providing music for the dance will be the Bobby Hood Band. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events.


Order Of Easter Star Sets June 13 At Next Meeting Date

Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting Tuesday, June 13, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The evening will begin with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30. Members are hereby reminded to please make an effort to attend and support your local Chapter during this new year.


Gospel Music Jubilee Will Be Held At Gore Springs Community Center

A gospel music jubilee will be held at Gore Springs Community Center June 10, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5. The program will feature Servants Quartet, Boundless Love and the Slaton family. There will be a concession stand with cheeseburgers, hamburgers, hotdogs, and sausage dogs, homemade desserts, popcorn, drinks and coffee. The public is invited to come out and enjoy a night of good gospel singing.


Forum Scheduled To Inform The Public About Access To Healthcare 

An access to Healthcare Resource Forum will be held in the Oxford Conference Center, located at 102 Ed Perry Blvd., on Thursday, June 15, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.This is a free informational event to help the public become more informed about Medicare coverage and how to save on prescription drugs and other healthcare expenses. Visit health fair booths, enjoy a complimentary lunch, win door prizes and hear from medical experts and agencies on how to lower health costs and improve health.

Former Tax Assessor/Collector Is Speaker At YHS Meeting

Guy Dale Shaw, former Yalobusha County Tax Assessor-Collector for 35 years, will be the speaker at the Yalobusha County Historical meeting Thursday, June 15, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Guy Dale’s topic is Yalobusha County Districting. Visitors are welcome and refreshments are served afterwards.
