First Baptist Church Is Accepting Applications For Pre-K Program

  First Baptist Church in Water Valley is accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year’s Pre-K program. The class is offered for children who are four years old by September 1. Class will be held each week, Monday-Friday, from 8 to 11 a.m. A registration fee of $100, along with a completed form is required to complete the application process. Tuition will be $100 per month. Applications are available for pick-up at the church office. If you have any questions, please call (662) 473-2230.


Bobby Hood Band Will Take The Stage At VFW Saturday Night Dance

  Weekend events at VFW Post 4100’s Home will begin with bingo on Friday night, June 23. Book sales will begin at 6 and the games start at 7 p.m. The regular Saturday night dance will be held on June 24. Providing music for the dance will be the Bobby Hood Band The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events.


Yalobusha Baptist Association Offers GED Test Preparation

The Yalobusha Baptist Association is offering GED test preparation Tuesday nights, July 11th to August 29th, at the Association building in Coffeeville from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There is no cost, but space is limited to the first 10 people. Friends Of Cossar State Park Will Host Monthly Music In The Park

Friends of Cossar State Park will host monthly Music in the Park. July will feature Musicians Jimmy Hood, Steve McGregory and Suzette Henry on July 1 at 6 p.m. at the Visitors Center.

If you haven’t heard these musicians, you have missed a real treat. Last month the Mt. Liberty Musicians performed in front of a large crowd who enjoyed the event.  The Friends of Cossar offer concessions during the event. 


 Blackmur Library Will Kick Off Summer Reading Program

It’s a summer of reading, crafts and activities at Blackmur Memorial Library. The dates for the library’s summer program, for children ages kindergarten through sixth grade, will be Wednesday, June 21st and 28th and July 12th from 9-11 a.m. There will be a carnival with games, activities and prizes Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

The June 21, 28 and July 12 session will feature a story time, crafts, activities and snacks. The July 29 carnival will feature outdoor games, snacks, a prize chest and other fun activities. Class Of 1972 Plans 45th Class Reunion On July 1

The Class of 1972 will host their 45th class reunion on July 1, at 3408 CR 53 (Boat Landing Road).  All class members  who were a part of this class from grammar school, junior high or  high school are invited to attend. Class members are requested to bring a finger food or dish of their choice and a  lawn chair. Please come from near or far and represent you  Class of 1972, 11 a.m. until. For more information contact a local class member.


Pickin’ Shed Host Friday Night Music, Saturday Karaoke

The Pickin’ Shed will have live music Friday night, June 23, with Brenda Cook and a Friend from Jackson, The House Band, and others.  Spots are still available and there will also be an open mic to fill these on a first-come basis.

On Saturday night, June 24, at 7 p.m. The Pickin’ Shed is hosting karaoke. Singers invited and welcome. Both nights  a potluck meal will be served at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted on Friday night and there is a $5 cover charge on Saturday night. Alcohol is prohibited.
