Yalobusha Baptist Association Offers GED Test Preparation

The Yalobusha Baptist Association is offering GED test preparation Tuesday nights, July 11th to August 29th, at the Association building in Coffeeville from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There is no cost, but space is limited to the first 10 people. Library Will Kick Off Second Half Of Summer Program In July                                        

Blackmur Memorial Library will kick off the second half of its Summer Library Program in July. The program, for children ages kindergarten through sixth grade, will be Wednesday, July 12, 19 and 26 from 9-11 a.m. It will feature a story time, crafts, activities and snacks. VFW Adds Smoke Breaks During Bingo Following New Ordinance

Weekend events at VFW Post 4100’s Home will begin with bingo on Friday night, July 14. Book sales will begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7. Additional breaks will be scheduled during the games for smoking after the county’s new smoke-free ordinance started July 5.

The regular Saturday night dance will be held on July 15. Providing music for the dance will be the Delta Rockers and the music will begin at 8 p.m. and conclude at midnight. Both events will be held in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend either, or both, of these events.

Gospel Music Festival Planned At Old Pine Valley School

    A gospel music festival will be held in the Old Pine Valley School, 4490 Highway 32 in Pine Valley, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 22. Admission will be $5. Larry Kilgore from Crowder, Steve McGregory from Batesville, Larry Hardy from Batesville and Liberty Hill from  Mt. Liberty Church are scheduled to take the stage. A concession stand will be open with hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, and homemade desserts.  Come out and enjoy a night of good gospel music.

Yalobusha Historical Society Announces Monthly Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  This month’s speaker is Mark Lawson, director of the future North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery currently under construction in Kilmichael.  Refreshments are served afterwards.  Visitors are welcome to attend.
