Class Of 1967 Will Meet For Their 50th Class Reunion


The Class of 1967 will meet for their 50th class reunion Saturday evening, August 5, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Little Professionals Day Care, 521 North Court Street. The first hour is set aside for visiting with members of other classes, family, and friends. All are welcome during the visiting hours, according to reunion planners. Dinner will be served starting at 7 p.m. Class members are urged to bring old photos, programs, or other items relating to class members and activities.


Backyard Bible Study Scheduled For Elementary Age Kids


A  Community Wide “Superheroes” Backyard Bible Study will be held at the Crawford Sports Complex in Water Valley Saturday, July 29 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children entering kindergarten to sixth grade are invited to come hear a devotion, create an art project, sing and dance, and play recreational games. Lunch and snacks will be provided. You can get  registration forms at local vendors around town or register the day of the event.


Multi-Class Reunion Is August 4


For those not involved in a more formal reunion, the annual Water Valley High School multi-class gathering will be held Friday night, August 4, beginning at 6 p.m. in the meeting room behind the Little Professionals Day Care at 521 North Court Street. The event is planned and hosted by a group of former students from the 1960s. 


But, everyone who attended the Water Valley Schools is welcome to attend. The emphasis is on the 1950s through the 1970s. There is plenty of parking and some RV hookups are available. The event will include a potluck supper and attendees are urged to bring purchased or homemade food to share. Attendees are also invited to bring photos and memorabilia.


Jeff Davis School Reunion Is August 5


The annual Jeff Davis School reunion will be held Saturday, August 5, in Bethel Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for a pot luck meal. The planning committee states that they are looking forward to seeing everyone.


‘Senior Scoop’ Brings Flavor To Registration, Other Dates Released


On Wednesday, August 2, 2018 seniors are invited to come to the Water Valley High School (WVHS) for the “Senior Scoop” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. During this time seniors may pick up their schedules and enjoy an ice cream cone! 


Final registration dates for the 2017-18 school year are scheduled Thursday and Friday, July 27-28 at WVHS. Meet the Teacher’ Open House will be from noon until 6 p.m. on August 3rd, stated WVHS Principal Drew Pitcock.


Weekend Events At VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance


Events at the VFW this weekend begins with bingo on Friday night, July 28. Sales begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7 p.m. The regular Saturday night dance on July 29 will feature the music of Peggy and the Chosen Few. Music begins at 8 p.m. and concluded at midnight. Both events will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.


After Summer Break, Lions Club Start Back Serving Monthly Breakfast


After a summer break, the Water Valley Lions Club will resume their first Saturday pancake breakfast on Watermelon Carnival Weekend. On August 5, between the hours of 6:30 and 10 a.m., Lions will served all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice for just $5 per plate. The event is held in the Lions Depot Building on Main Street. Also available for sale on this day will be the excellent Lions cheese. 


York Rite Bodies Will Meet July 27


Water Valley York Rite Bodies will have their monthly meetings on Thursday, July 27, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. A meal will follow the meeting. All members are reminded to attend.


Class Of 1957 Will Celebrate 60 Years


The Water Valley Class of 1957 will celebrate their 60th Reunion on August 5, 2017, in Hometown Pizza at 11 a.m. The private dining room in the back is reserved for the Class and all members are invited to attend. Each member will pay for their own meal.


Soccer Registration Continues July 29


Magnolia Youth League has scheduled soccer registration at Crawford Sports Complex the next two Saturdays (July 29 and August 5) from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost will be $45 and will include a jersey and soccer socks. Players will be required to wear shin guards during all games.

Murphree Genealogical Association Convention In July 28-29


The Murphree Genealogical Association Convention is scheduled Friday and Saturday, July 28 – 29, at Comfort Inn Suites in Grenada. The weekend will include genealogy research and a tour of sites in Calhoun and Yalobusha counties. The convention speaker will be Robert S. Murphree, grandson of former Governor Dennis Murphree.
