Veterans Will Be Honored During Monthly YHS Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will honor Veteran’s Day during the monthly meeting scheduled Thursday, November 16, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  Freddy Buchanan, veteran and pastor at Hopewell Baptist Church, will be the speaker.  All veterans and visitors are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Weekend Events At The VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance


Events at VFW Post 4100 this weekend begin with bingo on Friday night, November 10. Sales begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7 p.m. The regular Saturday night dance on November 11 begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Bobby Hood will provide the music and there is a $10 cover charge. The doors open at 6 p.m. Both events will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.

Work From Artists Needed For Bank Lobby Display

Renasant Bank is seeking work from artists in the fields of painting, photography, drawing and collage as part of the rotating art display featured in the bank’s lobby.  There is no charge to show your work.

Work must be ready to hang with proper wires and frames to present at the bank. If interested in exhibiting your work, please call Pati D’Amico at 318-655-2623. Remember – art makes the world a more interesting place!

Order Of The Eastern Star Will Have Monthly Meeting On November 14

Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a pot luck supper in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.

School Board Sets Meeting Date

The Water Valley School District Board of Trustees have scheduled the next school board meeting on Friday, Nov. 17, at noon in the district office. The public is invited to attend.

Youth Vineyard Will Host Show Of Talent On Nov. 18 


Youth Vineyard, Inc., established in 2006 under the leadership of Terry Rockette, will be hosting a showcase of talent on November 18, starting at 5 p.m in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. The event will celebrate Youth Vineyard’s 11th year anniversary of child and youth development. The gospel singing, featuring choirs and groups, will begin at 5 p.m. The youth talent show starts at 7:30 p.m. There will be a first and second place winner. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door for the Vineyard’s Christmas projects.

Businesses In Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center Plan Festival Of Trees 


The Water Valley Festival of Trees will be held in Piggly Wiggly’s Shopping Center November 25, at 6 p.m. Businesses located in the shopping center, located on South Main Street, have agreed to put together this event to bring attention to this business district. There will be lighting of Christmas Trees, lights, community singing and displays. The business participants will offer free refreshments and discounts on services and products.

Monthly Arts Council Meeting Is Scheduled November 14

The Water Valley Arts Council (WVAC) will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the Water Valley Main Street Association office located at 207 North Main Street. Arts Council Offers Free, Family Sidewalk Chalk Art Saturday

The Water Valley Arts Council in partnership with the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce is offering a FREE family friendly Sidewalk Chalk Art Event November 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Railroad Park across from B.T.C.. Enjoy a bowl of chili at the Rotarian Chili Cook-off, browse Downtown’s Open House, and express your creativity with chalk art.  Come join the fun.

VFW Schedules Veteran’s Day Ceremony

VFW Post 4100  has scheduled a Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. The public is encouraged to come out and support our country’s veterans. Post 4100 is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.
