CPA Will Speak At Blackmur Library Brown Bag Luncheon

Blackmur Memorial Library will have CPA Joe Black speaking at a brown bag luncheon Wednesday, February 7 at noon. Black will talk about the new tax laws and how they will impact taxes for this year. Refreshments will be served following the presentation The event is open to the public. School Board Sets Meeting Date

The Water Valley School Board of Trustees have scheduled a school board meeting on Monday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 in the district office. The public is invited to attend. 


Valentine Event Planned For Vets

The Yalobusha Patriots will host an “All-American Hotdog Buffet” with all the trimmings and numerous home-baked desserts for all veterans on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, Feb. 14, between noon and 2 p.m. at the American Legion Building in Water Valley. There is no charge for this event and veterans are invited to bring their spouses or a friend.

All veterans are encouraged to come by and enjoy a delicious meal and to enjoy the comradery of fellow warriors. For more information, call Julia Thompson at 473-7359.


Valley City Lodge Plans Next Stated Communication 

Valley City Lodge No. 402 will have their next stated Communication on Thursday, February 1, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are reminded to attend and support your local lodge.


Ambassadors Meeting Is Feb. 6

The Water Valley Ambassadors meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 7 a.m. at the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce building on Main Street. The speaker will be Ezzard Beane, principal of Davidson Elementary School.


Ribbon Cutting Planned For New Medical Supply Business

A ribbon cutting is scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Yalobusha Durable Medical Equipment, a medical supply company operated by Yalobusha Health Services. The business is located at 420 North Main Street.


Weekend Action At The VFW Includes Bingo, Saturday Dance 

Events at VFW Post 4100 this weekend begin with bingo on Friday night, January 2. Sales begin at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7 p.m. The regular Saturday night dance on January 3 begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. There is a $10 cover charge. The doors open at 6. Both events will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.


Lions Club Will Serve Pancake Breakfast Saturday

  The Lions Club’s monthly pancake breakfast held the first Saturday of the month will be held February 3 from 6 to 9 a.m. in the Lions Depot Building on Main Street. The cost is only $5 per plate for all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, coffee, and juice. During the breakfast the club’s delicious cheese and pecans  are also available for purchase.

“Come out, enjoy a delicious  meal, some wonderful fellowship, and pick up some cheese and pecans to enjoy later, while helping to fund the many charitable projects of the Lions Club,” states Terry Champion, publicity chairman for the club.


Billy’s Creek Water Association Schedules Annual Meeting

Billy’s Creek Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting on February 12, at 7 p.m. in the Sylva Rena Community Building.


Registration For Youth Baseball And Softball Starts Saturday

Magnolia Youth baseball and softball registration will begin Saturday, February 3, and continues through Saturday, February 24, between the hours of 9 a.m. to noon. Registration is for ages 3-12 and will be held at the Crawford Sports Complex soccer field storage shed. The fee is $45 per child.
