Parents Of Current 8th Graders Invited To Meeting

An eighth grade parents’ night is scheduled April 16, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Water Valley High School cafeteria. Discussion will include new graduation requirements for students entering the ninth grade at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. All parents are required to sign an agreement for their child’s diploma pathway. This meeting is for parents who were unable to attend the previous meeting. More information can be found at

Water Valley School  Registration Is April 23 – 25

Water Valley High School/Junior High and Davidson Elementary School have scheduled spring registration for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Registration dates include April 23, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.; April 24, from 3 to 6 p.m.; and April 25 from 3 to 6 p.m.  Parent/legal guardian must provide two of the following proofs of residency:  current driver license, current utility bill, current lease, mortgage agreement/deed or voter registration card.

Area Youth Invited To Attend Summer Camps

Valley Steam Works invites area youth to attend a variety of summer camps scheduled in June and July.  Participants will spend a week (Monday-Friday) engaged in fun activities that will get their imagination flowing. Camps are full day (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) and the cost is $175 per week. Sibling and membership discounts are available. Camps are offered for upcoming first grade through upcoming sixth graders.

Camps will be as follows: Agent Headquarters, June 11-15, where participants will learn all about spies and detectives;  Crazy Cool Chemistry, June 25-29, which promises a week full of wild experiments and crazy chemical reactions;  BAM, POW, BOOM, WOW, June 9-13, where participants will experience a week of super-power fun as they create their own characters; and Loco Motion, July 23-27, as the group spends an exciting week investigating forces and motion.

Roy Bennett Stevens Is Speaker At Historical Society Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker is Roy Bennett Stevens, and his topic is “Bryant”. Refreshments are served afterwards, and visitors are welcome.


Extension Service Hosts Series On Vegetable Gardening 

The Yalobusha County Extension Service will host a four-part series on vegetable gardening at the multi-purpose building in Coffeeville On April 9th, April 23rd, May 3rd, and May 11th.  The classes will be held at 6 p.m. and will cover topics of site selection, variety selection, soil testing, best management practices, chemical use, vegetable processing and much more.  If you would like to attend please contact the Extension office at 662-675-2730 to reserve your seat.

Gospel Music Jubilee Planned At Gore Springs Community Center 

A Gospel Music Jubilee is scheduled in the Gore Springs Community Center April 14, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5. Singing will be Blessed Assurance, The Trailsmen and Glory Road Singers. There will be a concession stand with cheeseburgers, hamburgers, sausage dogs, hot dogs, popcorn, coffee, drinks, and desserts. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a night of good gospel singing and fellowship.

VFW Members Will Elect Officers On April 19

VFW Post 4100 will have an officers election at their regular business meeting April 19, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. All members are urged to attend. To vote or hold  office you must have paid your annual dues. Contact Mickell Dunn at 714-5600 if you have not paid your annual dues.

Wrestling Fundraiser To Benefit School Planned On April 12

 Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present a School Fundraiser at Strider Academy Saturday, April 14. Strider is located at 3698 Highway 32 Central, Charleston. Doors will  open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7.

Annual Spring Yard Sale Planned At Pine Valley School

The annual Spring Yard Sale at Pine Valley School will be held Saturday, May 5th. Donations will be appreciated and they can be accepted until April 24th. If you have any questions concerning this please all Judea at 714-0025.
