Bobby Hood Band Will Play At Saturday’s VFW Dance

The regular Saturday night dance on June 2 begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Providing the music will be the Bobby Hood Band, and there is a $10 cover charge. The doors open at 6. The dance will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.

Donations Needed For Upkeep Of Cemetery At Antioch United Church

If you have family members buried at Muddy Creek, Antioch United Church, donations are needed for the upkeep of the cemetery. If you want your family members graves kept up, there are expenses. Please send your donations to: United M. B. Church, P. O. Box 641, Coffeeville, MS 38922.

Planning Is Underway For 45 Year Reunion For Class Of 1973

May will mark the 45th year since graduation for the Water Valley High School Class of 1973. To celebrate, planning has started for a class reunion scheduled to coincide with the annual Watermelon Carnival on  Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4.

Free Heart Health Screenings Offered At Coffeeville Library

 Coffeeville Public Library will host a Heart Health Event on Thursday, May 31, from 3 to 6 p.m.  Jamie Shaw with Delta Health Alliance under the Heart Health Program will be in Coffeeville to provide free screenings for the public.  Screenings provided at no cost include blood pressure, blood glucose, and BMI.

“We invite citizens to mark the date and plan to take advantage of this great opportunity to get free heart health screenings at your library,” reported Patty Bailey, Director of the Yalobusha County Public Library System.

Funds Needed For Upkeep At Camp Ground Cemetery

 Funds are needed for the upkeep of Camp Ground Cemetery. The cost to maintain the cemetery is approximately $2,800 per year. Donations are needed to help with this effort. Contributions can be made at any branch of Mechanics Bank, or sent to Patsy Francis at 703 Wagner St., Water Valley, MS 38965. 

Tickets Are Available For Lions Raffle

  The Water Valley Lions Club will have a drawing for a stainless steel 36 inch, four-burner Blackstone gas grill with a griddle drawer that will be given away at the Watermelon Carnival.  Tickets costs $2 for one, or three for $5. See any Lions Club member to purchase tickets.
