Final Soccer Registration Is Saturday

 Magnolia Youth League has scheduled soccer registration at Crawford Sports Complex on Saturday, August 4, from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $45 and will include a jersey and soccer socks. Players will be required to wear shin guards during all games.

Class Of 1958 Celebrates 60th

The Water Valley High School Class of 1958 will have their 60th class reunion Saturday, August 4, from 10 until 2, with a luncheon at noon in the Woodland Hills Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. All Water Valley Alumni Invited To Multi-Class Reunion  

The annual Water Valley High School multi-class gathering, held in connection with Watermelon Carnival, will be Friday night, Aug. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. in the meeting room behind the Little Professionals Day Care at 521 North Court Street. The event is planned and hosted by a group of former students from the 1960s. But, everyone who attended the Water Valley schools is welcome to attend. The emphasis is on the 1950s through the 1970s. There is plenty of parking and some RV hookups are available. The event will include a potluck supper and attendees are urged to bring purchased or homemade food to share. Jeff Davis School Reunion Is Scheduled August 4

 The Jeff Davis School Reunion will be held Saturday, August 4, beginning at 6 p.m., in the fellowship hall of Bethel Baptist Church. Those attending are asked to bring a potluck dish and join the fun and fellowship. Everyone is invited to attend.

Class Of  1961 Hosts Get-Together

The Water Valley Class of 1961 will again host their annual “Classmates, Friends and Family Get-Together.” Please make plans to attend between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4. As in previous years, this informal reunion will be held in the North Main Street Church of Christ fellowship hall, located on the corner of North Main and Wise Street. 

Volunteers furnishing snacks and soft drinks are always appreciated. The group photo will be taken around noon. Please bring any old photos and memorabilia you would like to share.

Arts Council Seeks Artists To Display Work At Renasant Bank

The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to display their work at Renasant Bank. Work including paintings, drawings, collages, quilts and photography are  accepted. There is no charge to the artists. All work must be ready to hang with proper wires, frames and dowels.  For more information please call Pati D’Amico at 318-655-2623. Class Of 1963 Will Celebrate Reunion

  The Water Valley High School Class of 1963’s 55th class reunion is here! All members of the Class of 1963 who graduated together, or who were ever a  part of the Class of ’63 are invited Saturday, August 4 (doors open a 3:30 p.m.) at Gray Rock (formerly Gray Rock Church), located at 3092 CR 85, Coffeeville. No Weekend Activities Scheduled At The VFW

 There will be no activity at VFW Pots 4100 this weekend. Bingo will not be played on Friday night and there will be no dance on Saturday night.

Valley City Lodge Sets Meeting Date

Members of the Valley City Lodge No. 402 will have their next stated communication Thursday, August 2, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are reminded that the meeting time is at 7:30 p.m. during daylight savings time. Please make an effort to attend and support your local lodge.

School Board Meets August 6

The Water Valley School Board has scheduled a meeting on Monday, August 6, at 6:30 in the Central Office on Market Street. The public is invited to attend. 

Lions Club Resumes Pancake Breakfast Saturday Morning

  Water Valley Lions Club will resume their regular Pancake Breakfast at the Depot on Saturday, August 4, beginning at 6 a.m. The Lions will be serving pancakes and sausage with coffee and juice, and it’s all you desire to eat for only $5. The Lions also invite you to visit their booth at the Watermelon Carnival in the park on Friday and Saturday and try some of their delicious hamburgers. They will also give away a Blackstone Griddle on Saturday. Tickets will be available at the pancake breakfast and at the park. “We look forward to seeing you there,” stated members of the club.

Beauty Salon Will Provide 10 Free Hair Cuts For Underprivileged Kids

 Keke’s Beauty Salon will provide 10 free hair cuts to underprivileged children in first to sixth grades. This service will be on Saturday, August 4, between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. 

“This event is for needy children and only the first 10  to qualify will be served. This Back-to-School program is being provided to give back to the community in appreciation for your support of Keke’s,” stated Nekeya White-Sanders, owner. For more info contact her at (662) 473-7821.

School Prayer Walk Is Sunday

 The annual School Prayer Walk will be held at both Water Valley High School and Davidson Elementary School Sunday, August 5, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to take part in this event.
