WATER VALLEY – The community is invited to come out this afternoon (April 3) for a ceremony at the bandstand on Main Street as members of the Blue Devil 2018 MHSAA 3A state championship team will be awarded rings. The Blue Devils clinched the state title last November, the second time in school history.
The rings were purchased after the football team’s booster club raised almost $25,000 for the rings, with the bulk of the money raised with t-shirt sales and a raffle. Coach Brad Embry reported the fundraiser is another notch in the strong support the school’s athletics receive.
“I am just proud to be a part of it. I am excited to live in a place where the community supports this team and our school like they do,” Embry added. “A lot of people were part of this, helping raise the money.”
The coach has repeatedly credited community support as a strong factor for his team’s success during last year’s 14-2 season as he invited everyone to
“We want everyone to come out and be a part of this,” Embry said.
During Wednesday’s ceremony each player will be called to the stage to receive his ring.
