Weekend Activity At The VFW Includes Bingo, Dance
Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100 on Friday night, April 19. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and play will begin at 7. Providing music for the Saturday night dance, April 20, will be the Sexton Band. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Post 4100 is located at 11535 Highway 215, west of Water Valley.
Egg Hunt Planned At Cossar State Park
An Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled at George P. Cossar State Park April 20, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Those wishing to hunt eggs are asked to bring an Easter basket. Cossar Park is located at 165 CR 170, east of Oakland, off of Hwy. 32.
School Board Meets April 22
The Water Valley School Board of Trustees will meet Monday, April 22 at 6:30 in the central office on Market Street. The public is invited to attend.
Coffeeville Methodist Youth Group Schedules Easter Bake Sale
An Easter Bake Sale is scheduled on Good Friday, April 19, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. Everyone is invited to come get their Easter sweet treats and support the Coffeeville United Methodist Church Youth Group.
Class Offered For Certification To Purchase And Apply Chemicals
A private applicators class is scheduled Monday April 22, at 1 p.m. at the Multi-purpose building in Coffeeville. This class is required to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides. The registration fee for the class is $20. Call the Extension office at 662-675-2730 to reserve your spot.
History Of Larson’s Grocery Store Is Topic At YHS Meeting
The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker is Don Larson, Water Valley and his topic is the history of Larson’s Store in Water Valley. Refreshments are served afterwards. Visitors are welcome.
National Day Of Prayer Will Be Observed On May 2
A local community observance of the National Day of Prayer will be held at noon on Thursday, May 2, at the flag pole of the Crawford Sports Complex in Water Valley. The 2019 National Day of Prayer Theme is “Love One Another” from John 13:34. Several local area ministers and vocalist will lead in prayer and singing and everyone is encouraged to join them.
City Will Close Offices For Holiday
The City of Water Valley will close offices and departments on Friday, April 19, to observe Good Friday. Friday’s commercial garbage route will run.
Ladies From The First Assembly Of God Will Have Bake Sale

Annual Iris Show Is April 25
The North Mississippi Lakes Iris society is holding their annual Iris Show at Elizabeth Jones Library, located at 1050 Fairfield St., Grenada. The show will be held April 25 from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
