Walking Track Is Back Open
WATER VALLEY – The walking track at Crawford Sports Complex has reopened following a 3-2 vote during a special called meeting last Friday afternoon. The topic was the sole item on the agenda and alderpersons Herbie Rogers and Cinnamon Foster voted in favor of reopening the track while Kagan Coughlin and Nicole Folson voted against it.
The tie allowed the mayor to cast the deciding vote and Mayor Donald Gray voted in favor of reopening the track.
City officials on both side of the issue noted it was a difficult decision. Coughlin cited the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases during the last two weeks, including five deaths in the county.
Following the vote, the mayor urged everyone to maintain social distancing while using the walking track. The virtual meeting was held using the Zoom app, as officials interacted on computers from different locations.
