Residents Urged To Lock Car Doors
WATER VALLEY – Police Chief Jason Mangrum is urging people in the city to lock their vehicle doors. The chief reported that his department typically receives sporadic reports, but there has been a recent increase in vehicle burglaries scattered across the city.
“They are primarily looking for money and guns,” the chief said, adding that taking the time to lock your vehicle’s doors and make sure valuable items are not visible or are removed is a strong deterrent.
“Our officers are always patrolling the neighborhoods and they are on the lookout, but it only takes a few seconds for someone to grab valuables from your vehicle if the doors are not locked,” he explained.
