A Big Day In Water Valley

Tuesday was a mark in history in Water Valley as 25 members of Base Camp Coding Academy Class started in-person classes in the newly renovated Central Street building. The building, dubbed Everest, is the state’s first Rural Education and Innovation Hub. Base Camp’s in-person classes were delayed from June until September due to COVID-19, and with the new space students can social distance while learning. The first four year-long coding academy classes were held in a large, second-floor room above B.T.C. Old Fashioned Grocery.
Work to renovate the long-abandoned industrial building in Water Valley started in January. In addition to Base Camp, Northwest Mississippi Community College will offer classes in the building.
