Compassion Ministries has been helping meet the need of food insecurity in this community for over 20 years. Since March of this year that job has been made even more difficult with the pandemic. Since the month of October is recertification time for all clients of Compassion Ministries, the Board of Directors will offer early certification on Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. for clients who normally pick up food on the second distribution day each month.
For those who can, please come to the parking lot of Compassion Ministries on one of these days if you normally pick up food on the second distribution day of the month.
Volunteers will be set up under a tent to fill out your new applications and verify your qualifications for free food. No one is allowed inside the food warehouse because of Covid 19. You will receive your application and return to your car to fill it out. Masks and social distancing will be required.
All clients will be required to show a photo ID, as well as proof of residence and income for all residents of the household. If these items are not shown, you will have to return home to get them or wait until a later date to be certified. You will not be allowed to pick up your food box until Thursday, October 22, at the regular scheduled time.
The early certification days are available to help clients avoid the long lines on Thursday. You will have to be recertified to pick up your food box on Thursday.
If you do not recertify on the early dates you can come on your regular distribution day and fill out your application, but you will have to wait in line and all requirements are still in effect.
We hope to make this process as effortless as possible, so come with some patience and have all your paperwork in order. We will do our best to make it as fast as possible.
