Water Valley Will Face Familiar Foes And New Rival With Move To District 1-3A

The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) released the  2021-2023 reclassifications last week and the Water Valley Blue Devils will move from Region 2-3A to 1-3A. This marks the first time in history the Blue Devils will be in Region 1.
Other teams in the district include Booneville, Alcorn Central, Kossuth and Mantachie which means Water Valley will play four region games during the next two seasons instead of five region games the team currently plays in Region 2-3A.
The District 1-3A schedule will include some familiar foes and new matchups for the Blue Devils:
• Booneville:  Water Valley has played Booneville only once in regular season in 1978. The Prentiss County team beat Water Valley, 20-0. The three other meetings were in post season play.
Kossuth: Water Valley has played this team only 3 times, all in post season play.
Alcorn Central: The 2021 season will mark the first time the Blue Devils will play the Golden Bears.
Mantachie: Water Valley & Mantachie were 2-3A members during the 2011-12 seasons. Water Valley won both games. The Mustangs move up to 3A from 2A.
