Happy New Year! May we all have a wonderful and blessed 2021 year.
Eli Chase Newman was welcomed into the world on December 22, 2020, at 1:51 a.m. At 19.5 inches long, Eli weighed seven pounds, .08 ounces. Lil’ Eli’s proud parents are Chase and Lorrin Newman. Santa came to see them early!
Our two oldest grandsons, Junior and Waylon Dukes were our only two visitors on Christmas day. We exchanged gifts and had a good visit. They had been to Cascilla and ate Christmas dinner with their daddy and stepmom, Dale and Shannon Dukes and family.
A great time with kids on Christmas Eve was had at the Martha Box home. Even the grown kids had a good time. Martha said, “Especially nine year old Addie. She got what she hoped for and cried in her mom’s arms. Then found out I gave her the Barbie House and she cried in mine. Feels great to act like Santa.”
Lilly Whitaker, her granddaughter from Water Valley came for a visit Sunday and Martha took all of the grands and her daughter, Candy, to eat at the truck stop. Afterwards they all went home with her and had a great time together – Josh Harrison picking guitar and Jake, his brother, singing; Lilly virtually having a good time; and Marnie Box laughing at all the teasing.
“A great time celebrating Christmas and just loving and hanging out,” she added.
Phil and Ginger Harrison had a great day with her mother, Martha Box, and the family on Christmas Eve and a great Christmas with Phil’s mother, Diane Hill and Linda Harrison on Christmas day. Now Ginger is just enjoying some time off from work.
Mark and Faye Hartley had Christmas at their house on Christmas Eve. Nathan, Betsy, Kristie, Rowland, Mary Brett and McLendon were there to enjoy lots of great food, fellowship and presents. I know the three little ones were excited.
Bubba and Sheila Williams of Scobey; Tara and Matthew Upchurch of Grenada; Billy and Connie Brassel of Senatobia; Sandra McCaulla of Grenada; Julie Kerr of Grenada; Anthony and Leslie Kerr and children, Alisha and Cayden of Grenada; Justin and Nicole Brassel and son, Kyle, spent Christmas Eve with their mother and grandmother, Jessie Williams.
Tommy and Deborah McCool went to her parents, Ray and Opal Bell’s home, for Christmas day. They planned on eating supper with them but things changed. Debbie explained, “It was a blessing that mom did have that spell and we decided to call ambulance or we wouldn’t have known she had pneumonia. Mom really can’t communicate well enough to let us know some things.”
Debbie also thanks all of you for your prayers.
Quinton Edwards passed away Monday morning, December 28, in Texas where he was in a nursing home near his daughter, Tamitha Jackson. He will be brought back to Grenada. No arrangements are available at this time.
Happy birthday to Carolyn Pyron and Jeff Tillman on January 2, Lisa Jones celebrates the 6th ,and Erik Bailey the 11th. May you all have a great day celebrating your special day.
Thought for the day…The simple way to better our lot in life is to try to do a lot better.
