TILLATOBA NEWS
By Patsy Deck
I’m telling you the truth, I could lose a crop with this beautiful weather blessing us here in Tillatoba.
Marissa Leachman, who works as a waitress, dishwasher and counter clerk at the Tillatoba Truck Stop was declared employee of the month! Congratulations, Rissa!
Martha Box had a great little lunch meeting at Spencer’s in Grenada Saturday. Those enjoying this fun were Charles Shumpert and his wife, Jimmy Jones along with Shirley Simmons, Sarah Nail and Brenda Harlow. Martha said they laughed their socks off. Now that’s what I call having a good time! With all this stress going on in our world, we need a lot more days like that day at Spencer’s.
David and I went to Batesville Thursday and got our first Covid shot. They had everything well organized, and we were there less than 30 minutes, and that was including our 15 minute wait after we took the shot.
I received a letter from lay leader Joy Mullen that the Holy Week Services will be canceled again this year for Spring Hill Church of God, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Oakland Baptist Church, Oakland United Methodist Church and Tillatoba Baptist Church. Due to the Covid distancing guidelines, Joy said they have no other choice but to cancel.
Sandra McCulla of Grenada visited her mother, Jessie Williams, Sunday for a good home-cooked meal!
Our daughter, Donna Garripoli, came Sunday and visited and did a few things around the house for us. I now have some beautiful new curtains hanging in my den. I gave her several boxes of canning jars, as she is going to learn how to can. I’m probably going to give it up this year, except maybe canning some tomato juice. My long time friend, Charlene Adams, was over one day while I was making tomato juice, and she said, “I’m going to teach you a simpler way and if you will listen to me it will save you a lot of time and trouble.”
Well. I listened, that time, and it was a breeze. I’ve been doing it her way ever since. I miss my sweet friend.
Jake and Josh Harrison are looking forward to spring break! They are staying busy with school; Josh is really enjoying the new robotics team that Kirk Academy has this year. These two brothers are so talented.
Happy birthday to J.R. Dukes and Eddie Simmons on the 13th. I hope you boys have a great time celebrating your special day.
On my way to Grenada Monday morning for my eye appointment, I was seeing a lot of green grass and beautiful daffodils. It made my heart smile!
