TILLATOBA NEWS
By Patsy Deck
We have had some perfect days here lately to enjoy outside. Our first day of spring was beautiful!
Michael McLendon and his wife stopped by the Truck Stop Friday while traveling and made a picture with two of the ladies working there, Shelia O’Bryant and Tracey Gosnell. McLendon is a state senator and insurance agent.
When Shelia sent me the photo, I kinda got homesick. It brought back some old memories when I worked there and saw several country music stars like George Jones who, by the way, got left by his bus driver. The driver pulled off while George was still in the bathroom. This was before cell phones, but CB radios were popular.
I also saw Lee Greenwood, and he gave me some of his signed records. Other famous people who stopped in included Jeannie C. Riley, B.B. King and his Blues band, Dr. Hook, Morgan Freeman, several gospel groups and even the Chippendale Dancers. I’ve kept all my souvenirs from those days.
Eugene, Peggy and Eric Bailey were happy to see their son, Ronnie Bailey, during a visit Sunday. Ronnie was down for the weekend fishing.
Please pray for Linda Smith McGregory, song leader at Oakland Baptist Church. She broke her left leg. Praying for you, Linda, hope you will be up and about soon.
Happy birthday to Daisy Walton Burlison on the 23rd; Joyce Courtney on the 25th; my sweet granddaughter, Frankie Holliday, Ginger Box Harrison, Pat Craig and Melissa Hammons Sturdivant share a birthday on the 27th; Sonny Champion the 28th, Annie Claire Turner and her nephew, Dwayne Nail, share a birthday on the 29th; and Margaret Ann Tillman and Frank Weir celebrate theirs on the 30th. May you all have a great day celebrating.
Martha Box texted Monday morning and said her family and friends got her through a tough day Sunday. They came and set up her new sewing machine that her granddaughter, Rissa Leachman, bought her.
Then her daughter, Candy Box, and Rissa delivered the cow dirt that Rodney Steel sent for her garden.
Her daughter, Ginger Harrison and Josh Harrison brought the Gatorade and ripe bananas. Her daughter-in-love, Melinda Box, came in with love and bananas. Her sister, Joyce Stevens, pulled grass! Martha says she did not have energy to do all this work, so she is getting lab work done! She thinks she was just dehydrated due to diet, she has been on the Keto diet for three weeks – apparently not eating enough, especially vegetables and water. I hope you will feel better soon, my friend, and thanks for the delicious banana bread you dropped off.
Pray for little Jodi Williamson, daughter of Bethany and Marty Williamson. She has pink eye in both eyes.
Thought for the day…..Dogs are much like people. Usually only one in a group is barking at something in particular, the others are barking at him.
