TILLATOBA NEWS
By Patsy Deck
A correction from last weeks news: It wasn’t Melissa Hammons Sturdivant’s birthday on March 27 as I stated. Melissa had a birthday February 27. Sorry, Melissa, I had you doubling up on your age.
What a night we had Saturday night. Electricity was off, sirens going and the wind, rain, lightening and thunder was strong! I had so many candles going that my house smelled like a candle factory. Sunday was a beautiful day after the storm – sunny but windy.
Sheila Jackson, along with her granddaughter, Mali Jarrell, and Debbie Hayles left Tuesday, March 16, to visit Beverly and Liz Thurman, Benji Thurman and Steve Thurman and family of Knoxville Tenn. They also visited Roger and Rose Thurman, Ben Thurman and Meredith Smith of Huntsville, Ala.. They returned home Saturday, March 27. Sheila said they had a good time.
My sweet young friend who used to be my down-the-road neighbor, Chase Newman, had appendicitis surgery Sunday morning. Chase, I hope you are doing well and back home with your wife and precious baby boy.
My beautiful and precious great granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes, came for a visit Saturday afternoon. She is such a joy to us. Oh, yeah, her momma and daddy came too, Holly and Waylon Dukes.
Faye Hartley and daughter, Kristie, went to the rodeo in Southaven Saturday night. Faye said they had a great time. It started storming when they left but Kristie is a good driver and they made it home safe.
Ginger Box Harrison reported, “It’s been a great day,” talking about Saturday, her birthday. She was showered with lots of gifts and birthday wishes. Her husband, Phil, saw that she had a wonderful supper. Ginger said they made it home just before the storm.
Julia Kerr and Sandra McCulla visited their mother, Jessie Williams, Sunday.
Visiting with Festus, Ruth Jane and Amanda Hailey Sunday were Mike and Rhonda Hailey of Houston. Mike is a brother to Festus.
I talked to Peggy Bailey a minute Monday morning as she was headed out the door for her doctor’s appointment. Hoping for a good report.
Happy birthday to Dana McMillian Jackson on April 2nd; Brent McMillian and Breanna Nobles share a birthday the 4th; Bubba Williams and Jake Harrison share a birthday on the 5th; lil’ John Dukes celebrates the 6th; and Vickie Parker James celebrates the 7th. I pray you all have a great day celebrating your special day.
Martha Box said she dealt with her power being out from midnight Saturday night until 7:30 Sunday night after a wild night of storms. Hugs to all the linemen.
Thought for the day….Peace is watching a sunset and knowing who to thank.
Easter Rolls
Crescent Rolls. Melted butter, large marshmallows, cinnamon and sugar.
1. Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. This represents the cloth Jesus was wrapped in.
2.Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus. Dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.
3. Roll the buttered marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar. This represents spices used to anoint the body.
4. Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll, sealing it inside. This represents the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death.
Bake at 350 degree for ten to 12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb. (Pretend it was three days) Let the rolls cool slightly. Open the “cloth” from Jesus’ body and find that he isn’t there! Jesus has risen!
