Sheriff’s Department Will Change Policy On Unlocking Vehicles
The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department will no longer unlock vehicles except in emergency cases after April.
Yalobusha County Sheriff Mark D. Fulco reported the policy change is effective May 1. The sheriff cited liability concerns as the primary reason for the change.
“If a deputy damages a vehicle trying to unlock it, our insurance will not cover it,” Fulco explained. The sheriff also noted that many neighboring law enforcement agencies also no longer provide the service.
