Oxford University Bank (OUB) will expand their services with a new branch in Water Valley scheduled to open in mid-2022. The branch will operate as the Bank of Yalobusha and will be located in the northern Wagner building on Main Street. Oxford University Bank President and CEO David Guyton reported the expansion has been in the planning stages for several years.
“We are excited to bring another option for community banking to Water Valley,” Guyton explained. “We are finalizing our plans and hope to start construction in the next few months.”
Oxford University Bank is leasing the two-story building from Terry Warren and will utilize the bottom floor for the new branch. Current Oxford University Bank employee Drew McGehee will serve as the branch manager. The bank also purchased a lot behind the Pocket Park for drive-through services that will utilize two ITMs (interactive teller machine). The ITM combines the functionality of a regular ATM with the addition of a human touch when needed.
Guyton reported customer service is the leading priority for the bank.
“The turnaround time for loan requests is as fast or faster than anywhere else. We hear that from out customers,” Guyton said.
Oxford University Bank’s main office is located on University Avenue in Oxford. A branch on Jackson Avenue is also nearing completion and is expected to open soon. The bank also operates the Bank of Pontotoc, a branch in Pontotoc.
