Happy 7th anniversary to Chad and Morgan Eskridge on Monday, December 13. May you two have many more years of love and happiness! Love and sympathy to the Sharil Faye Brown family. Sharil leaves two daughters, Candi (Richard) Anderson and Leslie (Danny) Van Pelt; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren to mourn her death.

And, just like that says Linda Ross Aldy, we have launched the new Oakland Area Chamber of Commerce. Thanks especially to Ed and Becky Meek for joining us from Oxford; MEC CEO Scott Waller from Jackson, and Sandra Jamison from Congressman Bennie Thompson’s office. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from within and outside of our community, says Linda.

Oakland is moving on up and that is wonderful! They have a lot of dedicated people who want better things for Oakland. I’m sure they will give me a lot of news to report later. Please feel free it to send me at anytime. Not everyone has the means to read what is going on in and around your great little town! We at Tillatoba are proud of you!

Phillip Williams from Alabama is visiting his mother, Jessie Williams, for a week or so. Phillip loves to read so I save him my papers so he can catch up while he is here visiting.

Diane Dukes and her daughter, Terri, went to Batesville Saturday and did more Christmas shopping at Lowe’s and then went to eat at Huddle House. They enjoyed being out and about visiting after being shut in with colds, laryngitis and viruses.

Deborah McCool said they had their family Christmas supper Saturday night, December 11, and all of their kids and grandchildren were there except Christopher’s oldest, Hunter. Unfortunately, he had to work. Everyone had a great time together and ate too much. Debbie said she was able to get some wonderful pictures of them all together.

Congratulations to Kristie Hartley, who has received an accounting degree and is through with college!  I know Faye and Mark are tickled. She started  full-time at Hartley Tax Group in Charleston Monday, December 13. I know her brother, Nathan, is proud to have her working with him.

Happy birthday to Paul Craig on the 17th; Kristie Hartley, Judy Arnold Lambert and Angie Waldo share a birthday the 18th; Gail Jackson on the 19th; Elouise Parker and ‘lil Evie Ella Roach on the 20th; and Steve Bailey and ‘lil Eli Chase Newman on the 22nd. May you all have a blessed day.

Lil Evie will be two years old. Her parents are MaKayla Kilgore and Ronnie Roach from Tillatoba.

Shelia Jackson’s brother-in-law, William Duke of Memphis passed away Sunday, December, 12. He was married to Connie Jackson until her death. William and Connie had twin boys, Casey and Curtis. Also Shelia’s niece of Brookhaven, Rene Dahl Smith, formally of Charleston, died Sunday morning, December 12,. Rene was the daughter of the late Sis and Buddy Dahl.

Martha Box says physical therapy is working her out.

“Your sweet daughter (talking about my daughter, Donna Garripoli) is also there getting her work out. She and I talking about you sees us through and keeps the PT crew laughing,” Martha reported. “Girl the tales I told her! I am still up walking every hour and exercising these feet and knees from the sitting position.”

Keep up the good work Martha and you will soon be on the mend. I probably need to find out what they are saying about me!  I don’t wanna have to break a leg to do it though.

Eugene and Erik Bailey rode up to Oakland for the Christmas parade Saturday. Eugene said it was bigger and better this year.

I got my fruit cake made and mellowing out with a little spirits wrapped around it. It’s gonna be good, y’all!

Thought for the day….some people drive like tomorrow isn’t worth waiting for.
