Water Valley Lions Barron Caulfield and the late Arland “Ace” Eilert were inducted into the Mississippi Lions Hall of Fame during a ceremony last month. In order to be considered for induction, nominee must have served as a Mississippi Lion for 15 years, with five of those years having contributed outstanding service on the state level.
Two Water Valley Lions were indicted into the Mississippi Lions Hall of Fame during the 2022 Lions of Mississippi State Convention held April 29 and 30 in Flowood.
The late Arland “Ace” Eilert (Aug 21, 1945 – Feb 3, 2021) and Barron Caulfield were indicted by Lions Greg Crapo of Biloxi and Richard Dickson of Clarksdale. Eilert had served as club president at Sterling Heights, Mich. before transferring to the Water Valley Club. Eilert also served in numerous roles in the local club, District 30-M, and Multiple District 30 (the state association) including club membership chairman, vice-president and president, zone chairman, district cabinet secretary, district coordinator, vice-district governor, district governor, chairman of the council of governors and the hearing and deaf committee among others.
Caulfield was inducted after having served over 41 years in multiple positions including club treasurer, vice-president, president (three terms), district zone chairman, vice district governor, district governor (two terms), chairman of the council of governors and President of the Mississippi Lions Sight Foundation.
Caulfield currently serves on the state sight screening committee, diabetes committee, and is a trustee of the Sight Foundation. He is recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship and two Edwin Dalstrom Awards. Caufield credited many Lions who went before him in the local club and district including Wilbur Todd, Melvin Ford, Rayford Edgar and Past District Governor Bill Norris. He was joined at the induction by his wife, Lion Elizabeth, his three children and four grandchildren.
