WATER VALLEY – After 17 consecutive drawings without a winner, two lucky players won back-to-back in the Mississippi Match 5 Lottery including one person in Water Valley who won $431,749.
The lucky player matched all five numbers from the Saturday, July 30, Match 5 drawing, which began its roll without a winning ticket on June 23. The prize amount increased after each drawing without a winner, and the jackpot reached $431,749. The numbers drawn were 6-8-11-14-17.
The player from Yalobusha County always chooses the same numbers and typically purchases two tickets for each drawing, according to a press release from the Mississippi Lottery Commission. The player also enjoys playing Mississippi Match 5 when the jackpot reaches $200,000 or more.
The Mississippi Match 5 was also hit at the next drawing by another player who matched all five numbers for the August 2 drawing. The $50,000 winning ticket was purchased from Super See Tobacco in Tupelo.
The Mississippi Lottery Commission’s website reports the odds of matching all five number in the Match 5 Lottery is one in 324,632. Players must be 21 years or age or older to purchase tickets.
