Burn Ban Enacted In Yalobusha County

The Yalobusha County Board of Supervisors enacted a county-wide burn ban from October 24 through Nov. 7. Yalobusha County EMA Director Stewart Spence recommended the ban, citing a moderate drought situation along with high winds and low humidity.

“We are starting to have more and more large fires,” Spence told supervisors during a meeting on October 24. County officials will reassess the situation at their next meeting on Nov. 7.

Stewart said the Mississippi Forestry Commission and farmers burning agriculture fields are exempt from the burn ban.
